Wednesday, 8 July 2015. 30 drawing apps in 30 days - day 29 - Concepts. Concepts is a beautiful app, you just have to look at the colour picker, go on look at it, now imagine it clicking round with weight and presence.delightful. So it's got brushes and pencils and layers and pinch to zoom, and a proper undo button, aaaaaand nearly all of that is locked up in the the Pro version. Anyway, it's very well constructed, and in PRO you can export to a variety of formats:. That feature is locked. 24Hour Comic d...

Strange Biros: 30 drawing apps in 30 days - day 22 INKredible

Wednesday, 1 July 2015. 30 drawing apps in 30 days - day 22 INKredible. This is really a note taking app in fact I think it used to be called Notes Plus? Anyway by default you get a standard fountain pen, with settings for wetness and size. which means you can drawlike Ralph Steadman. Or you could if the algorithm that turns your line into a line on the screen was a little bit more predictable. several times I managed to lose a line, or select an area instead of drawing a line. And that's about it. 24Hou...

Strange Biros: Illustration
http://www.strangebiros.co.uk/p/illustration.html
I've worked as a freelance illustrator since 1989 for a range of companies including Harper Collins and Mentorn. I have worked on Children's books, advertising, comics and design for television. To commission work contact rob.englebright@gmail.com. Before commissioning something, it's worth thinking about exactly what you want, and what it will be used for. Do you want original artwork to hang on a wall? If so, what medium would work best. watercolour inks? If so does it need to be small enough to email?

Strange Biros: #24HCD first post
http://www.strangebiros.co.uk/2011/10/24hcd-first-post.html
Saturday, 1 October 2011. 24Hour Comic day is a challenge to create a 24 page comic from scratch in 24 hours. I've tried before and failed, because I drastically underestimated the effort involved. I've spent a year getting to grips with digital tools working on www.wychwolf.com. And I really enjoyed the invention around the simple script. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Thursday, 9 July 2015. 30 drawing apps in 30 days - day 30 - Inkpad. Inkpad is a vector tool, like Adobe Illustrator, and I'm not very fond of the whole svg thing. I like the lines I draw to be the lines I draw rather than an algorithmic version of them. So the challenge today. the FINAL challenge in our 30 day marathon was to draw a Zombie. Location: Turners Hill Turners Hill. Wednesday, 8 July 2015. 30 drawing apps in 30 days - day 29 - Concepts. I'd be really happy to spend the money on such a well ap...

Strange Biros: Tumult Hype iBooks Widgets - preview
http://www.strangebiros.co.uk/2012/06/tumult-hype-ibooks-widgets-preview.html
Monday, 4 June 2012. Tumult Hype iBooks Widgets - preview. Hype is very simple to use, and the export function, and import into ibooks is a doodle. It takes a bit of tinkering to see what is going to go where, and I need to think a little about how the design will change the way I write the book, but basically there aren't any massive issues. I do need to remember to include a back button on the widget, as it doesn't seem to reset once the action has happened, if it's launched again. 10 Tons of Greek Myth.

Strange Biros: Double post
http://www.strangebiros.co.uk/2009/05/double-post.html
Wednesday, 27 May 2009. For a bit of light relief I thought I'd have a crack at colouring the Jim Darkmagic sketch. I'm not a used to using photoshop, and get frustrated by locked layers, and switching brushes etc. I really need a good tutorial site to get to grips with what is a very useful tool. 25 September 2015 at 04:15. Strange Biros: July 2011
http://www.strangebiros.co.uk/2011_07_01_archive.html
Sunday, 31 July 2011. A photo by killercarrot. Someone pointed me at the link to 100 days of monsters http:/ www.youtube.com/user/StefanGBucher. Which reminded me of an interview with Mike Mignola. Where he said, he just wanted to draw monsters. I've been trying to have a go at drawing a page of webcomic a week, for www.wychwolf.com. With more or less success. So I'm going to try. I have dallied with the ipad as a drawing tool, with little success, but I'm guessing it'll be ok for unpolished sketches.
