Rural Innovation: Live Work and Travel the Pioneer Way
http://ruralinnovation.blogspot.com/2011/03/live-work-and-travel-pioneer-way.html
Friday, March 11, 2011. Live Work and Travel the Pioneer Way. While rural communities struggle to drum up interest in tourism to their regions with festivals and fairs, museums and local icons, the big-money tourists are flocking to rural towns and municipalities to experience an authentic western, First Nations, pioneer or eco-experience. The disconnect seems to be caused because rural residents are reluctant to believe that someone might be interested in what those residents se as an everyday experience.

Thursday, February 3, 2011. Bartering is Just What You Bargained For. Bartering conjures up images of trading chickens for a house call by the rural family doctor. Yet, barter networks have emerged as vehicles for a reported transaction value of more than $8 billion per year, plus the billions more swap and trade transactions that go unreported. It is estimated that more than 350,000 businesses in the USA alone participate in trade exchanges. Because of the ability to expand the reach of modular exchange...

Thursday, December 30, 2010. Worldchanging.com describes leapfrogging as the phenomenon that occurs when underdeveloped countries skip a generation or more of technology, to embrace a cutting-edge system. This, for example, has occurred in Africa, where hundreds of thousands of citizens have gained access to cellular telephones and the array of applications that are contingent upon that equipment, without ever having constructed a mile of copper wire to carry land-based telephone systems. By leapfrogging...

Highlighting Injustice; Exploring Solutions. Friday, July 12, 2013. My Job: Care Enough To Take Action. As a child living in Canada in the 1950s and 60s, I used to admire the black population of the southern USA, who seemed to overcome incredible odds and mistreatment. My parents, political animals who fought tenaciously for their causes and beliefs, encouraged me to explore these issues of injustice. Although I had come well recommended by one of the departmental editors, I appeared for the interview wi...

http://yarnsandfables.blogspot.com/2011/11/wrath-of-virgin-goddess.html
Yarns, Tales, Fables and Stories by Lee. Friday, November 4, 2011. The Wrath of The Virgin Goddess. Man eternally has been the bane of the gods, even as the gods and goddesses look down on man as a father and mother might do. And, like parents, the deities sometimes discount the wayward behaviours that their charges might instigate. Like strict, authoritarian custodians, though, they, most often impose their wills on man. There were four of these canines, and one man. And it was one of her two loves that...

A Canadian Approach to Word Working. Thursday, March 3, 2011. Irresponsible Media and the Toyota Prius Problem. As Internet media, television, radio and print media carried article upon article of failed software systems in this hybrid, almost none of those responsible journalists and reporters offered the distinct possibility that the drivers were at fault, and not the vehicle’s advanced programming.
