A rural perspective with a blue tint by Ele Ludemann. Where you come from. Word of the day. From time to time you might want to post comments updating or giving a different perspective on an old post but if you do that then it’s unlikely anyone else will see what you’ve written; or you might want to comment on the blog in general or raise something not covered by a post. Your Page « Homepaddock. July 10, 2008 at 9:20 am. November 15, 2008 at 3:34 pm. Rectifying that now – keep up the good work. Enjoy you...

A visit to Orokonui Sanctuary | Stepping out
https://julietlarkin.wordpress.com/2015/07/13/1119
Outdoor adventure pursuits, risk and writing. Books I’ve read. A visit to Orokonui Sanctuary. July 13, 2015. After a long break from blogging, and pressure from my 8-year-old son, who has his own blog, I am finally posting again! In Dunedin this week, down from New Plymouth, for the school holidays and just had a lovely walk at Orokonui Sanctuary. The highlight was seeing two Takahe foraging around in the undergrowth, totally unconcerned by the bright pufferjacket-wearing humans gawking at them. This wor...

The Long Con | Whatever...

Authorised by Kylie Fowler, 322 Gore St, Bluff. It’s All About Me. A good editorial today. But I am curious as to why there is so much ambiguity around the Otagonet shares. Granted the companies office document listing is not a clear picture, it does give some insight. It is the companies responsibility to hold an up to date share register, surely our councillors are allowed access to that (as reps of the shareholder)? Well Done To All Those Involved. A New Mantra →. Got something to say? Ombudsmen’...

A New Mantra | Whatever...

Authorised by Kylie Fowler, 322 Gore St, Bluff. It’s All About Me. I have received a response to one of my questions. ICC have provided the In Committee report of CEO Richard King regarding the Kakapo and Tuatara enclosure. It shows that it is a $3.4M unit (including interest). And can anyone tell me how that report requires public exclusion ‘for negotiations’? Councillors deliberating on how to spend our money is not ‘negotiations’ is it? Is it not role of the elected member? December 15, 2015 at 3:40 pm.

How to Make a Difference: How to Build a Culture of Community Involvement
http://howtomakeadifferencenow.blogspot.com/2011/02/how-to-build-culture-of-community.html
How to Build a Culture of Community Involvement. One of the biggest issues in many small (and not so small) communities is that of getting volunteers for community organisations and events. Often it seems to be the same small group of people doing everything. Set up service awards presented by Council/Community Board/local government - monthly/annually/as appropriate. Volunteer "jobs" board in the library and also in the Messenger. Why do you volunteer? How did you get involved? What do you get out of it?

How to Make a Difference: Shame on you Dr Jack Phillips!! Give us back our Town!!
http://howtomakeadifferencenow.blogspot.com/2008/09/shame-on-you-dr-jack-phillips-give-us.html
Shame on you Dr Jack Phillips! Give us back our Town! I live in a small town. Its almost at the very bottom of New Zealand. On the main road between North and the little bit of South that is left before you hit the sea. We are on the edge of what is a beautiful river. Unfortunately in the 1800's someone got the great idea to build an abattoir and a paper mill along side of the river (and blast the impressive Mataura. A nearby town and Mataura no longer runs its own affairs. An American investor, a retire...
