Photo Courtesy of Mikaela MacKenzie. I handcraft distinctive violins and cellos for advancing players. The best parts of my day are often spent in my humble shop sharing my creations with others. I work full time out of my small studio in northwest Calgary. I choose to work carefully by hand as opposed to quickly and mechanically. Consequently I produce very few instruments each year. This approach ensures a superior result and the feedback from players has been extremely positive.

My varnish jars are now empty, so I am starting to think about cooking some more in the backyard. Weather conditions could be favourable for that sort of thing this week. I repair violins, violas and cellos. However, to allow time for making new instruments, I limit the repair of instruments to existing clients, orchestras and their referrals. This violin came by way of referral and is now back in the hands of the owner.
