Sunday, March 30, 2008. These baby lizards, a skink and an alligator lizard, were only about five inches long. As adults the skink can be nine inches long and the alligator sixteen inches long. This is the skink when we found him in his hiding place. We found this two inch long grub while planting prune trees on Maggie. I'd like to see what type of beetle it will turn into. Ugly at first, metamorphs. Pictures below here were taken in or near Wildcat Canyon on Maggie. Grove in the canyon.

Sunday, April 20, 2008. Our Lives in Oregon. Ed Cooley (the guy who ranches the cattle on Maggie) found a rubber boa. On his land near Elkton and brought it to the ranch to show off. The rubber boa is one of the few boa constrictors native to North America. They're docile and make great pets, but their numbers have declined in recent years. Cause unknown. Snow on Maggie is uncommon, but in April it's downright bizarre. Global warming. Must be at work. I'm not joking! I stand in the cold. We found another...

Sunday, May 18, 2008. The following entry is the culmination of two camping trips to MAGGIE. The photos following are from adventures had during said trips. Yes this is real scorpion and yes these pictures were taken on the ranch. And no this is not a six inch killer. It was only about an inch and a half long. The sting is less powerful than a bee sting. Frisbee and Grandma's dog Adhara. This guy was probably older and was at least twice as big as the alligator lizard we found before.
