Short hikes in and around Victoria BC, finding things interesting to me. Birds,plants,mushrooms,scenery, whatever. Thursday, February 27, 2014. Top of Mt Finlayson. Hiked up to the top of Mt Finlayson on this day. It was quite wet and sloppy down at the bottom but was nicely frozen at the top with a crust on the snow about 1/4 inch thick. Hard to walk around in a foot of snow with a crust. No one had been up yet today, so it was all fresh and crisp . Nice views all around. Sunday, February 23, 2014.

This November and December Brown Pelicans have decided to make Victoria Harbour a wintering ground. We went down this day to see if we could get any close looks at them. At least six of them came in and landed out front from me and gazed at me in wonder. The excitement calmed down and they just kind of sat there, in the water, doing nothing.
