22nd Oct, 2007. I enjoyed today’s discussion on Mariam’s intent to conspire against herself by framing her own death. Why would Mariam subject herself to such a tragic ending, rather than fighting for her right to live? Mariam is made into a Jesus figure, ironically as this play takes place before Jesus is even born. Even the butler of the play hangs himself just as Judas did right after he betrayed Jesus before the crucifixion. Why does Salome survive, while she is the one who is condemned?

I was lucky enough to see them in concert last year and I can’t get enough :-). Moving forward:. I would like to make a note about the name “Yahoo” found within. I was thrilled to connect the famous website yahoo.com with the Swiftian name. After having looked up the definition of “yahoo” on Wikipedia. It’s a satirical phrase!
