Back Surgery

Wednesday, August 09, 2006. I have been home for 3 weeks now. I have discarded my walker which is a good thing. Walking comes in pretty handy now and then. My biggest complaint now is my stomach and the stinging pains that occur when I overstep my bounds. My stomach is still swolen and really numb. I have no feeling near the incision. It is really hard to sleep still and get comfortable. I hope these feelings go away before I goto work again. Posted by Rob @ 3:05 PM. Saturday, July 22, 2006. Here is a pi...

Back Surgery: July 2006

http://robsback.blogspot.com/2006_07_01_archive.html

Saturday, July 22, 2006. I am getting stronger day by day. I am still having trouble walking. I over did it yesterday and paid the price. Cindi counted 16 staples in my incision. I accidentally rolled over onto my stomach last night while I was sleeping and instantly remembered. Bending over is out of the question right now, so I have a gripper arm "claw" that can pick up a piece of paper off of the floor. Cindi is a good nurse. I am thankful for her everyday. Posted by Rob @ 3:40 PM. Today is the day.

Back Surgery: Bummer, Sort of

http://robsback.blogspot.com/2006/05/bummer-sort-of.html

Wednesday, May 24, 2006. Bummer, Sort of. Well, the doctor's office called yesterday and said that the general surgeon is not available until August. The spine doctor uses a general surgeon to make the approach in the abdomen. This is good news and bad news. The good part is that it gives me longer to think about it. The bad part is that it gives me longer to think about it. The bad part is that our Aflac probably won't pay any benefit because August is past their 1 year deadline for surgery.

Back Surgery: Back home

http://robsback.blogspot.com/2006/07/back-home.html

Monday, July 17, 2006. I am back home from the hospital. I am trying to learn how to walk again. Standing up is the worst experience. But, if I sit too long I have to move or else. Here is a picture taken by my doc of the surgery. I think it went well, but I am glad it is over. Everyday, I get a little bit stronger. I hope so because up until 2 days ago, I was eating ice chips for all my meals. I will post more as I remember it. Posted by Rob @ 6:34 PM. Glad you made it home! View my complete profile.

Back Surgery: First Steps

http://robsback.blogspot.com/2006/05/first-steps.html

Sunday, May 21, 2006. Well, I decided to start posting a blog to describe my process leading up to surgery and my (eventual) recovery. The lawnmower fell on top of me on July 3, 2005. I've always felt like someone kicked me really hard in the rear. And the middle of my back has pain when any type of twisting or bending occurs. Now, almost 1 year later, I still have the pain in the tail and the middle of my back seems to be getting worse. After that, he can do an anterior fusion. This is where they go...

How I do blog deployments. Posted on Thu 30 July 2015 in programming. Static site generators are pretty sweet. If you're not familiar, they are more or less content management systems, but instead of generating pages on the fly like Wordpress would do, they allow you to generate a static website of your content so it can be served very quickly and with no special server software needed. I personally use Pelican. But there are others out there like the very popular Jekyll. Is a web based editor that conne...
