Rob's Big Ride Redux

Rob's Big Ride Redux. Saturday, August 2, 2014. Day 48, Clarksburg to Washington D.C. finale, 40 miles. Predicted rain never happened and it was a beautiful night and day. Riding is all done, never to be repeated (again). Leading the group to Washington D.C. How to put up a tent when you forget the poles. (and also the mattress pad). On a road in Maryland, narrow and very pretty. The bike path looking backwards. Virginia just across the river. Inside the Ronald Reagan Building. Friday, August 1, 2014.

Rob's Big Ride Redux: June 2014

http://www.robsbigrideredux.blogspot.com/2014_06_01_archive.html

Rob's Big Ride Redux. Monday, June 30, 2014. Day 15, Billings to Hardin, a very short 54 miles with just a touch of wind (Ha). Best: Basically coasting along a flat grade at 25 mph. Worst: Trying to put on my windjacket in the wind. Most Unexpected: Being abandoned in camp as everyone left to go to Little Big Horn. Sunday, June 29, 2014. Day 14, Billings rest day 1/google miles. Seeing the Battle of the Little Big Horn reenactment outside Hardin. Actually getting to do the Little Big Horn thing today.

Rob's Big Ride Redux. Friday, May 23, 2014. Camping Gear List for the Big Ride. Next up is the sleeping bag, which is Western Mountaineering's Mitylite, a 40 degree down bag weighing under 2 pounds. The bag works as a lightweight quilt and you can move the down to the side to keep from getting too warm. Sweat makes a wet sleeping bag, See above. There is no place like home. This is where I will be living for 48 days on the Big Ride. Tent showing the fly sheet rolled back exposing the tent body hung below.

Rob's Big Ride Redux. Thursday, July 31, 2014. Day 45, Bedford to Gettysburg, 100 hard miles. Lunch made by Tony and his son Ryan. Second flat tire due to a wire from a steel belted radial. Curse those car tires! Riding with my buddy Jim Sheridan from the 2012 Big Ride. Before the final climb to Gettysburg, we saw a rider across the road who asked us if we were Big Riders. It turned out to be Jim Sheridan from my 2012 Big Ride group who joined us to finish up our trip. Jim will be sleeping with u...We wa...

Rob's Big Ride Redux. Friday, August 1, 2014. Day 47, Gettysburg to Clarksburg, 53 miles. The first 35 miles of the road were on beautiful roads. Future projection) The rain through the later day and night. Somehow we had over 2300 feet of climbing in Maryland on flat roads. Oh, and we crossed into our last state today, Maryland. From yesterday, just to prove I did something other than sleep. Should have gotten a building permit. Look at all the traffic. August 1, 2014 at 1:38 PM. Congratulations on the ...

Overall today was an epic day as, according to Strave we climbed 12,421 ft. See the elevation chart below for the detail.
