Rob's Run Blog

Sunday, 16 August 2015. As I sit and pen this entry I am into the sixth day of zero training. Not because I do not want to, but as the result of a virus which has dropped me like the proverbial sack of potatoes. This has been the catalyst for a myriad of chagrin for a multitude of reasons. Not being able to train, feeling terrible and hoping to race a duathlon in three days time are at the forefront of them. But it has not all been doom and gloom since my previous blog entry. The ride was my biggest gain...

Rob's Run Blog: December 2014

http://www.robsrunblog.blogspot.com/2014_12_01_archive.html

Wednesday, 31 December 2014. What Is Your Resolution? I have never been one for New Years resolutions and I do not recall ever making one. Far from being an anti-resolution type, it is just something I have never felt the need to do. I am more the type who will try to do something straight away rather than use a milestone such as the start of a new week, month or year to kick something off. 2015 will be no different although running will allow me to set a few goals. That goal is to run 1000km in 2015.

Rob's Run Blog: January 2015

http://www.robsrunblog.blogspot.com/2015_01_01_archive.html

Thursday, 22 January 2015. Rain Running And Records. A change is as good as a holiday, well so they say. That hypothesis was to be put under the microscope as I started the second week of my 5km training program 830km from home and working very different hours to the ones I normally keep. I'd had a taste of the local tracks with my first run on the Sunday I arrived and was very keen to explore a little bit more as well. Running home at Albert Parkrun, Melbourne. The week continued with a 30 minute tempo ...

Rob's Run Blog: March 2015

http://www.robsrunblog.blogspot.com/2015_03_01_archive.html

Monday, 16 March 2015. A Pleasant Surprise In The Highlands. Surprising someone can be a lot of fun and often very fulfilling, however there may be no better feeling than when you surprise yourself. I had already done that a few times in 2015 but really didn't think that the Highlands Community Fun Run on the 15th of March was going to be one of those occasions. Once we got off and running, I had decided I was going to push early and try to maintain the pace. I had fallen apart a little in the final ...

Rob's Run Blog: Expect The Unexpected - A Duathlon Debut (Of Sorts)

http://www.robsrunblog.blogspot.com/2015/05/expect-unexpected-duathlon-debut-of.html

Monday, 25 May 2015. Expect The Unexpected - A Duathlon Debut (Of Sorts). Expect the unexpected is how the cliche goes. However, not even the most fastidious application of the Boy Scouts motto "be prepared" would have allowed me to be 100% ready for the final triathlon of my first season in the sport. Oh, and when I say the word triathlon, I mean duathlon. The event was staged at Port Stephens in New South Wales. A picturesque coastal town renown for blue skies and crystal clear water. I was careful not...

Rob's Rum 'n Roll - Wie?

Rob's Rum 'n Roll.

Brighton Half Marathon 2015. Due to an injury riddled 2014 this was to be my first Half Marathon since last years Brighton Half. I knew I wasn’t in good enough shape to get a PB but was hoping to continue my recent improvements. I didn’t really have a time to aim for but would be disappointed if I was slower than 1:36 and would. Give up running forever. This is what I must stop doing. I need to commit properly and stop being such a wuss! As we approached the pier for the first time at mile 1. My first ra...

How far we've come...

Wednesday, April 9, 2008. So I've gotten sick. I think I may have a sinus infection. I've had little energy and a HORRIBLE headache all day yesterday and today. Needless to say, I don't think I'll be getting out to run today. It's kind of discouraging. I have tons of ambitions with this, but shit keeps happening that distracts me. ehh. Monday, April 7, 2008. After some time off. Distance: about 3 miles. Location: Outside- Glenway- Rapid Run- Guerly- Glenway. Tuesday, March 18, 2008. Monday, March 17, 2008.
