Monday, October 24, 2005. Sri Lankan proper nouns. Many Sri Lanka proper nouns are very difficult for foreigners to pronounce. Cities have names like Anuradhapura, Kurunegala, Nuwara Eliya, and Trincomalee. People have last names like Goonitileke. Gunawardena, and Jayatileke. Thursday, March 30, 2006. Traditional houses in Botswana, called rondavels, are round and are constructed from cow dung and mud. Today these houses are intergrated with more comtemporary buildings. Tuesday, February 28, 2006. We were very interested in the chalk drawings that appeared outside the homes in Channai. Vive told us that these drawing indicate to visitors and delivery peple that the family is home and the household is up.
