Positiva: November 2012
http://robturk.blogspot.com/2012_11_01_archive.html
Global travels in sustainability. Friday, 30 November 2012. It’s hard to imagine a child making their was through the Australian school system who isn’t au fait with the ANZAC story and my schooling experience was no exception, learning about Simpson and his donkey, the ineptness of the command, the bravery of the Australian and New Zealand diggers and the futility of the campaign. In later years I always thought the. As we silently made our way amongst them it was evident that the piece wasn’t on ...

Global travels in sustainability. Wednesday, 30 May 2012. Portland, Episode 1. I knew a bit about Portland prior to arriving, as the hub of sustainability in the States, and as a case study for what can be achieved through considered city planning - integrating a public and bike centric approach to transport planning with defined urban design guidelines and the setting and enforcement of an urban growth boundary. Perhaps just as poignantly I also knew Portland as the hipster capital of the US. Activities...

Global travels in sustainability. Thursday, 25 October 2012. I think you’d be hard pressed to find another country that has such genuine love and appreciation of another human than the Turks do for Mustafa Kemel, or. Today the physical actualization of this admiration is borne out through, at minimum; an Ataturk statue in every town, his name adorning every imaginable piece of infrastructure and his benevolent gaze staring down from behind the counter of any commercial enterprise you may come across.

Global travels in sustainability. Thursday, 3 January 2013. Ride to the airport. The recommended Peppers is a good example of this, run by an Australian just over a kilometre outside of Ubon Ratchathani Airport, it serves a range of Australian café favourites, including meat pies, something I hadn’t eaten for a long time, and with ever sought after free wifi, a great place to while a few hours waiting for a flight. After all we’d seen we were effectively seeking a holiday from our travels, a time t...

SNARK-a-licous | Just another WordPress.com weblog
Just another WordPress.com weblog. That’s so gay! September 10, 2010. As I was perusing my friends’ Facebook postings, I came across one about the inappropriate use of the word “gay” to describe something that’s stupid. I couldn’t agree more! Often, when I’m hanging out with friends, one of them will say something is gay, and immediately follow it up with “Sorry! I didn’t mean it like that.”. If it doesn’t show up under “gay” use some other adjective. Things that are gay. Things that are stupid. It’...
