Welcome to my website. I have tried to include all the different elements of my work. I work in a variety of clays and techniques producing decorative objects as well as useful ones. I particularly enjoy the Raku technique of firing. Rob Wheeler - Potter. Studied at Ipswich School of Art and Brighton School of Art. Has exhibited widely in the UK and Europe in both mixed and one man shows. His work has its roots in nature. The forms and texture often taking their inspiration from fossils and sealife. Classic chinese forms such as balluster vases are also an influence. Most of this work is produced in white earthenware and then put through the Raku process. Some of the more sculptural work is fired to stoneware. Domestic Ware and Raku.

The raku pottery technique has its origins in Japan. Raku potters were producing ware expressly for the Japanese tea ceremonies. Raku, meaning ‘pleasure’ or ‘enjoyment’ was not introduced to the western world until the first half of the 20th century. Throwing and raku firing.
