Soulard Market | (Mis)Adventures For Two

One Boy. One Girl. Too Many Misadventures. November 4, 2010. Historic St. Louis (aka Soulard) has beautiful architecture, wonderful places to eat, but what really has Alex and I coming back is the year-round market. The most delicious brats. Tons of fruit stands. A Butcher with Alligator sausage (Ask Alex, I’ve had Gator and wasn’t interested in it.). This delicious spice shop that also sells speciality coffee beans. Jess was too afraid to touch the fruit in fear it would all tumble down.

One Boy. One Girl. Too Many Misadventures. Jess is…potentially the strangest person you will ever meet. Her view of the world is slanted, skewed, and she is simultaneously light and dark in unexpected ways. She’s pretty much amazing. At the moment the person who loves her best in the world is deployed. This is his fourth deployment in seven years and the last words he said before leaving were “You are everything good in my life. I’m fighting to come home to you.”. Or http:/ www.soldiersangels.org. Last Time | (Mis)Adventures For Two
https://misadventuresfortwo.wordpress.com/2010/11/15/last-time
One Boy. One Girl. Too Many Misadventures. November 15, 2010. This weekend will be the last time I see my best friend for a good long while. Such is the military life. Someone always leaves. What it all means for this space that Alex’s posts will be sparse. He’ll do his best, he always does, and writing here is one way of his showing that he cares but time will be a precious commodity. So, St. Louis…batten down the hatches! Alex and I are coming your way! Laquo; Veterans Day. Leave a Reply Cancel reply.

One Boy. One Girl. Too Many Misadventures. May 28, 2010. Alex’s other best friend Little Angel got married to a fellow soldier in service but she chose not to have a military ceremony. Instead, she wore a beautiful white dress with her hair swept into curls and her groom wore a traditional tuxedo (minus the tails) but looked very dashing. I look up from the ring and see the couple looking at eachother in perfect happiness. Alex and Jess all dressed up for Little Angel's Wedding! May 28, 2010. Making my w...

One Boy. One Girl. Too Many Misadventures. November 11, 2010. Today is Veterans Day. I’ve seen a lot of things today about bravery, courage, freedom, saluting to those in service, but what I feel doesn’t quite match those feelings. This military child life of mine is equivalent of having everyone I love more than they know tied to service through one channel or another. To the men and women in the Armed Forces: Thank you for your service. With Only Love,. Laquo; Soulard Market. Leave a Reply Cancel reply.

Saying Goodbye | (Mis)Adventures For Two
https://misadventuresfortwo.wordpress.com/2010/11/22/saying-goodbye
One Boy. One Girl. Too Many Misadventures. November 22, 2010. Saying Goodbye is never easy. You’d think I’d be better at it with all the moves I’ve been through but the truth is that last hug is always the hardest. It’s your last chance to tell someone in person exactly how much they mean to you and even if their unshaven cheek scratches yours, you don’t care because it’s not nearly as important as holding tight for just one more second. In Remembrance | (Mis)Adventures For Two
https://misadventuresfortwo.wordpress.com/2010/05/31/in-remembrance
One Boy. One Girl. Too Many Misadventures. May 31, 2010. Today is Memorial Day meant to remember those we have loved, the brave we have lost, and a chance to be grateful for the soldiers still amongst us. There are nearly 1100 newly minted lieutenants joined that corp of strong men and women from West Point and then there are men like my father who have spent the majority of their lives serving, making a difference, and preserving freedom. Last week the 1,000th soldier fell in Afghanistan.

One Boy. One Girl. Too Many Misadventures. September 11, 2010. It seems this year this tragic day is fraught with political issues when it should be about remembering those we have lost and those we love. Every year, I write about the soldiers who have gone off into war as a reaction to this sad day but there are so many other people who should be acknowledged for their heroism, courage, and strength. Have you ever heard of Rick Rescorla? He was never seen again. It doesn’t matter what you do or don’t be...
