GeMS of Puerto Rican Soil. The urge for finding new biologically active molecules is indeed of no surprise. We are seeing, for example, how new strains of bacteria are evolving capable to resist multiple antibiotics. The rate at which these bacteria evolve is much higher than the rate of new drug discovery. The methodology employed for finding new drugs accounts for this phenomenon.
