June 25 - July 1. Aesthetically, camping on top is our favorite, be it with tent, RV or just a bedroll under the spectacular starry sky. Camping is free at launch and portable toilets will be provided. Pilots are invited to camp on the grass in the larger of the two fenced town parks. There are bathrooms and a large covered area with picnic tables and chairs. There is a free RV dump station at the smaller town park on highway U.S. 40. Population 2500, 20 minutes from the town of Dinosaur):.

That station is 50 miles east, 1500’ lower, facing the same direction with similar topography out in front. Last year, during the August 30 - September 5 contest period, high temps averaged 76F (72-82); nighttime lows averaged 52 (47-60) and there was 0 precipitation.
