Ignorant waffle: March 2011
http://ignorantwaffle.blogspot.com/2011_03_01_archive.html
Welcome to my blog. Monday, March 21, 2011. Lyon House Museum, Melbourne. Back in late January 2011 I was able, after a few months wait, to visit the Lyon House Museum. In Kew, an inner eastern suburb of Melbourne. I had read about it in the local paper and was keen to visit as this was an entirely new concept for me. This is resolved partially by keeping bedrooms and bathrooms off limits in a series of "boxes" within the larger structure which also has dedicated exhibition spaces, a music room with a bu...

Welcome to my blog. Monday, November 29, 2010. Merric Boyd- reading a pot. Went to the November 2010 Leonard Joel auction (second pic down) to buy something by Klytie Pate the other day (see top pic) and came home with this pot by Merric Boyd (third down) which was signed and dated 1915. Klytie is getting out of my reach. Am finding myself fascinated by the whole Boyd clan and am looking forward to reading "The Boyds" by Brenda Niall after christmas. There is a small landscape on the other side which is ...

http://ignorantwaffle.blogspot.com/2012/05/criss-canning-at-metro-5-gallery-may.html
Welcome to my blog. Sunday, May 6, 2012. Criss Canning at Metro 5 gallery May 2012. Wonderful to go and see Criss's new work last wednesday night. The paint was so lavishly applied, the flowers were really in 3 dimensions. The colours clear and unmuddied, the composition sublime as usual but wonderful to get up really close and see the brushstrokes. A new theme was of seashells but I still love the flowers best. http:/ www.metrogallery.com.au/. Here are my favorites. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

Ignorant waffle: November 2009
http://ignorantwaffle.blogspot.com/2009_11_01_archive.html
Welcome to my blog. Monday, November 23, 2009. Last week, while my husband watched Tiger Woods on the tele, I was sitting at this desk, gazing at images by Tiger Palpatja, an Australian aboriginal elder in his late 80's/early 90's who has only been painting for 5 years. Took a while to figure out the appeal, what it was. Some of his painting is quite untidy and less appealing but the better images are sublime. Stumbled across an article by Nicholas Rothwell from the Australian. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).
