Friday, July 27, 2012. A good quick read with some problems. My rating: 3 of 5 stars. A good read but not my favorite of Fossum's. While an interesting exploration of the nature of pedophilia, often the dialog between Sejer and Skarre, the central detectives of the series, feels forced, created merely to further the philosophical debate about pedophilia. For example,. Why are they mainly men? The definition of paraphilia was necessary? View all my reviews. My rating: 4 of 5 stars. A wonderful quest story...

Kathy Schroder Sass: Ring-Tailed Cat Cutie
http://schroderschizz.blogspot.com/2010/02/ring-tailed-cat-cutie.html
Tuesday, February 9, 2010. Living in the woods I have all kinds of critters on my porch like raccoons. Squirrels, and fun hummingbirds. The other night I heard some racket on the porch, flung the door open and saw a raccoon. Tail scampering off, until it turned around and looked at me. I stared right up at this little guy up in the rafters and said "What in the world are you"? I have lived in Arizona for almost 5 years and have never seen this little guy. A ring-tailed cat. He is so stinkin. We went hiki...

Kathy Schroder Sass: Doopy Doo, I'm Two
http://schroderschizz.blogspot.com/2010/04/doopy-doo-im-two.html
Sunday, April 18, 2010. Doopy Doo, I'm Two. So my little babe Ryker turned 2 on April 17. He always sees cookie monster on Sesame Street and makes the cookie eating noise so of course that was the cake he got. We all got extremely blue mouths. Of course grandma gave him this goofy dog that rolls around and laughs and it NEVER EVER STOPS! Leave it to grandma to constantly drive us crazy with battered powered noisy toys. Thanks grandma! My lovely creation, thanks I'm crafty! View my complete profile. Porte...

Tuesday, June 3, 2014. If you have an instagram and we're not following each other there ADD ME! I love instagram. It's like the best of flickr and facebook and twitter. I think a photo and a caption are my favorite way to keep up. UPDATE* I'm also feeling over instagram right now also. I got 2 days into the June photo a day and gave right up. Blah. I'm sure I'll post every now and then, but don't be sad if I'm not constantly "liking" your photos right now. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Hi, it's me!

Friday, October 26, 2012. A Spot of Bother. My rating: 4 of 5 stars. Haddon does not shy away from the dark forces of suffering. Early on from George's point of view we get this:. He fell violently ill. Sweat was pouring from beneath his hair and from the backs of his hands. He was going to die. How in God's name had he not noticed this before? And how did others not notice it? How did they saunter through their days unaware of this indigestible fact? We have it good! View all my reviews.

Tuesday, August 14, 2012. More than a critique of men: A meditation on the soul. By Joyce Carol Oates. My rating: 4 of 5 stars. The last scene is about food with friends, but friends Ian knows he will not see again, a scene where the background character of Sigrid comes full circle to take up a position in society, to not feel offended, serving another piece of kiwi pie, eerily ending on a simple mundane question, "Won't you all have just a little more? Saturday, January 19, 2013. The truly realistic fiction of Judy Blume. My rating: 4 of 5 stars. It was a painful read; yet a story we must be more honest about. I wasn't a 100% sold on the ending. I get it that Blume didn't want to tidy everything up: have Jill become friends with Linda or have everyone embrace in a communal hug. But.I was left somewhat emotionally flat. Maybe that's my issue as so much fiction gives a forced emotional ending. View all my reviews. Saturday, January 12, 2013.

Tuesday, May 29, 2012. Ishiguro's *Never letting go* which never quite took hold. Never Let Me Go. My rating: 3 of 5 stars. About 50 pages in: It's not terrible so far but I'm struggling.found myself starting two other books including *Hull Zero* by Greg Bear. Maybe I came into Ishiguro with unfair expectations, wanting a book equal to Remains of the Day. View all my reviews. Friday, May 25, 2012. Thursday, December 29, 2011. Good American mystery writing? A Cold Day for Murder. My rating: 2 of 5 stars. Having started my mystery/detective reading with the Scandanavians has (I'm afraid) set me up for disappointment as I now attempt some Americans. I didn't hate this book but, to give a sense of my overall engagement, I actually couldn't remember if I had finished it. View all my reviews. Wednesday, December 28, 2011.
