Nebbiolo | Roero

Nebbiolo can also be enjoyed as an aperitif and drunk outside of a meal, although it has a more contemplative nature than Barbera. Being more tannic and structured it will tend to give you an appetite, and a slice of ham or salami will definitely help you enjoy its depth. It is usually round and full, and best enjoyed with a meal, especially with meat or cheese courses. This entry was posted in Nebbiolo. October 24, 2014. Nebbiolo from Roero is big. Piemonte is already renowned for its Barolo and Barbaresco. Roero is a hilly, rugged region lying just north of Alba. From its distinctively layered sand, clay and limestone terrain, come bolder fragrant reds like Nebbiolo and Barbera and a uniquely refreshing white, Roero Arneis. Though still relatively unknown outside Italy, Roero has a centuries-old tradition of wine making: the first written records date back to 1303. Roero, of course, is also the home of the white truffle. October 25, 2014.
