Roger Neill's Blog: September 2014

http://rogerneill.blogspot.com/2014_09_01_archive.html

Reflections on Innovation, Creativity and Leadership. Monday, 29 September 2014. Why so many Great Aussie Singers? Last Tuesday Tony Locantro and I did a joint talk to the Recorded Vocal Art Society in London entitled ‘More Australian Singers on Record’. 8216;More’ because this was Tony’s second go with them – he had previously done the premier division Aussie singers (Nellie Melba, Frances Alda, Florence Austral, Peter Dawson, Joan Hammond, Joan Sutherland and so on). Is the climate in some way relevant?

Roger Neill's Blog: October 2014

http://rogerneill.blogspot.com/2014_10_01_archive.html

Reflections on Innovation, Creativity and Leadership. Wednesday, 29 October 2014. I am currently steeped in German Romantic poetry – in particular Schiller, Schulze, Mayrhofer, H ö. Lty, Heine, M ü. Ller and the Schlegel brothers ‒. Preparing for concerts in Oxford filled with Schubert’s settings of their work. They had recently taken over a leading competitor, Mackintosh’s, and the brilliant, glamorous young Tony Mackintosh had become leader of their merged European division. It was all very 1969. 8220;...

http://rogerneill.blogspot.com/2014_02_01_archive.html

Reflections on Innovation, Creativity and Leadership. Thursday, 27 February 2014. At last. The winds have abated. The floods are receding. We have snowdrops. And the first blossom on the trees. Glimpses of what I take to be the sun. At last. Shine out, fair Sun, with all your heat,. Show all your thousand-coloured light! Black Winter freezes to his seat;. He grey wolf howls, he does so bite;. Crookt Age on three knees creeps the street;. The boneless fish close quaking lies. The stars in icicles arise:.

Roger Neill's Blog: June 2014

http://rogerneill.blogspot.com/2014_06_01_archive.html

Reflections on Innovation, Creativity and Leadership. Monday, 30 June 2014. A wild Mozartean ride at Glyndebourne. The truth is that I’d had mixed feelings about going to Mozart’s La finta giardiniera. At Glyndebourne. Early Mozart operas can be a somewhat tedious procession of recitativo. The latter usually of the ‘stand and deliver’ variety. Lle Harvey, Nicole Heaston, Joel Prieto, Gyula Orendt and Wolfgang Ablinger-Sperrhacke) were all outstanding, both as actors and singers. So far, so good. But it w...

http://jackiebradley.blogspot.com/2013_02_01_archive.html

Loving creativity and learning. Research, daubing, scribbling. Saturday, February 16, 2013. Yesterday I went to the funeral of my dear Aunty Betty. She was the wife of my father's brother, Peter, and a beautiful, warm and lovable person, who died aged 88. I never knew my father as he was killed in the war, on 13 May 1943. I was 9 months - 'do the math' as they say. Uncannily, within 2 minutes I spotted him, thanks to an old magnifying glass. He is sitting in the second row back and is sixth from the ...

Loving creativity and learning. Research, daubing, scribbling. Tuesday, May 14, 2013. A task, duty, pleasure or chore? I wonder why some people feel the need to add structure ti their lives, to do one specific creative thing a day? Once during every 24 hours, there are painters who post their daily work on the internet to sell. A day,and photographers who post an image a day via Blipfoto. Not a painting a day, just one of several in a few hours! Taking a photo every day is easy for me, as I nearly always...

Daydream Believer: Nature vs nurture

http://jackiebradley.blogspot.com/2013/07/nature-vs-nurture.html

Loving creativity and learning. Research, daubing, scribbling. Wednesday, July 17, 2013. Spied over a garden wall in a Derbyshire village, glorious colour contrasts are perfect. Natural wild flower meadow on a steep hillside in Bonsall. A frothy garden on a hillside in Bonsall. Our recent visit to Derbyshire was full of delights. It was Open Gardens in Bonsall while we were there, with some delightful, unpretentious gardens (not to mention, stunning cakes). I love the colours in these Derbyshire gardens!

Loving creativity and learning. Research, daubing, scribbling. Saturday, December 29, 2012. She had a special friend and neighbour who was her rock during her last months, Pauline, a feisty, down to earth fellow nurse, whose humour and strength made such a difference to that difficult time. In fact, my last meeting with Maeve was with Pauline as well, and typically all I can remember is how much we laughed. So, here it is, to you, dear lady. Saturday, December 08, 2012. Daydream Believer: January 2013

http://jackiebradley.blogspot.com/2013_01_01_archive.html

Loving creativity and learning. Research, daubing, scribbling. Thursday, January 17, 2013. Drawing from the life. For the first time in years, yesterday I did some life drawing. When I mentioned to someone later how exhausted I felt, he said what could be tiring about being with a naked body and a pencil. Life drawing demands absolute focus and concentration, to be relaxed and yet controlled, assessing, measuring and marking. This is mentally, and to an extent, physically wearing. Tuesday, August 30, 2011. Clara is becoming interested in fashion. Not really, probably more interested in putting on articles of clothing all by herself. Sometime it makes for funny outfits. This is a onesie she tried to put over the outfit she was already wearing. Eventually I had to get Clara her own "makeup". My favorite is when Clara decides to clomp around in Mommy's shoes. Who knew walking in high heels could come so naturally! Over the river and through the woods. Cupboard under the stair. Happy ...
