So as the wood becomes carbon fibre…. - Ed WhitingEd Whiting

So as the wood becomes carbon fibre. May 4, 2015. I started trying to make arrangements to get on to the press team and some of the yachts which was not going to be easy as lots were full with charter guests. Nor was a new photographer always welcome. It is a really amazing thing to be on these yachts, the varnish and details are fantastic, and each is a real example of craftsmanship. Today is my last full day on the island and I am looking forward to coming back. Before then I have some things to so...
Rescued from the nets. - Ed WhitingEd Whiting

Rescued from the nets. January 24, 2015. In every place you went along the coast, everybody had a story, everyone had been affected and lost family and friends, and most people had rebuilt something. I waited with him with a bucket and twelve turtles for the moon to rise before tipping these little black excited creatures and watching them wriggle down the beach and into the sea. The Turtle photograph is available as a limited edition print. Please just go to the fromtheblue gallery. February 7, 2015 at ...
Back in Cornish air and light - Ed WhitingEd Whiting

Back in Cornish air and light. February 23, 2015. So back to the other parts of life after five days of Cornwall and photography……. Then back to download some more and have some dinner at around eight. Bed follows soon after (well if you’re not asleep on the sofa by about nine thirty) ……. and repeat five times. I love it. Diving trips are often the same sort of thing. Frozen sand. Sunrise at Logans Rock on a very cold morning in Cornwall. So what did I learn? Star trails over Wheal Prosper, Cornwall.

I love large prints, really large prints. June 10, 2016. I just love seeing very large prints. I want to push the limits of what can be done and as camera technology improves and more sophisticated printing machines become available, as long as someone will put in an order, you can now produce some really big prints. When I was asked if I could do some prints for a cafe/restaurant which was holding a Moroccan themed evening, well I just couldn’t resist. The history goes like this,. When I picked up the l...
The Cornish bug - Ed WhitingEd Whiting
https://fromtheblue.co.uk/the-cornish-bug
February 16, 2015. So back in Cornwall to take some pictures, I have some shots in mind that I want to do. The weather is only part of the story that can get between me and the pictures I want. I love coming here to the challenges; the weather, the tides, the direction the light comes from. Why are these things challenges to a photographer? St Michael’s mount, from the harbour wall. Foot’s steps in the sand to Logan’s Rock. A inside job. A night raid on St Michael’s Mount. No Market no trade. Your email ...
A further thought after writing rescued from the nets. - Ed WhitingEd Whiting

A further thought after writing rescued from the nets. February 2, 2015. I stopped to photograph some kids playing as a boat was being pulled out the water. As I watched, I saw some dive tanks further up the beach. I asked, Do you dive here? This man fed his family by collecting fish, and I had no way of saying he had to stop. I was unsure just what to say but questioned why I had not seen any of these types of fish when diving here. His reply was you should come out with us then! Rescued from the nets.
Same sun, different days - Ed WhitingEd Whiting

Same sun, different days. March 5, 2015. So here I am again, it’s a cold morning and I am waiting to see if the sunrise will make for a great photograph. Is the light doing something interesting? Https:/ fromtheblue.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2015/03/windandmasksringtoneringtoneMusic.mp3. Harbourmasters Hotel, Aberaeron, Wales. Aberaeron, Wales. Apparently houses in Aberaeron painted different colours by sea captains so they could make them out when returning from sea. Nice story. You have been so ordered.

No Market no trade. February 8, 2015. In most cases the change has taken a long time and the fight to bring about further change is still not over. We all hear about the successes and failures. The balance of nature in the wild is delicate and takes thousands of years to establish, but it can be destroyed in months. I found this on one tropical fish site,. Wild Caught Process: Exporting the Fish. Lets review: wild tropical fish are caught, packaged and held in native land, next they are packed and shippe...
Warmer days - Ed WhitingEd Whiting

April 25, 2015. Time for three films on the plane and here I am in the Caribbean. The BA check-in was painless, I didn’t get charged extra luggage for my equipment but was warned I would be on the fight home…. My first impression was one of small homes dotted all around, made of a combination of wood and concrete blocks with tin roofs. Most are painted, but few are big. So why come here? I am looking to do some more underwater photography; some sailing and I haven’t been here before. The harbou...Falmout...
