http://broad-thoughts-from-a-home.blogspot.com/2014_11_01_archive.html
Broad Thoughts From A Home. Sunday, 30 November 2014. Almost exactly two years ago, I met Santa. No, you didn’t read that wrong. It was, truly, only two years ago. Let me set the scene. It was a grey, gloomy, rainy Saturday – one of those days where you get the impression that it’s never going to get fully light – in late November 2012. For reasons which I won’t trouble you with here, I was spending the day, on my own, in Stratford-upon-Avon. I thought, I won’t need to bother with that part of it. Santa ...

Broad Thoughts From A Home. Friday, 10 July 2015. NO MORE WOE FOR JULIET AND HER ROMEO - WRITING THE BOOK YOU WANT TO READ. It's more than thirty years since I first saw Franco Zeffirelli's wonderful 1968 film of Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet. There wasn't a dry eye in the house at the end, and I came away thinking: This is the world's greatest love story - so why does it have to end so badly? A lot of them didn't really appeal, but one which did catch my attention was Write The Book You Want To Read.

Writer. Author. Blogger. I Always Cry at THE END. March 18, 2015. I took this photo a few years ago, but it seemed right for today…. This is one of those mixed up blog posts. I haven’t posted anything for a while, and yesterday I thought I should. I should blog, I said to myself. But I didn’t feel like it, I just didn’t. I dug around for a while (in my mind) to try and figure it out, and here’s what I came up with. This blog is not about winter. (I think my last five are plenty.). I would love to suggest...

Who tells us about his famous family, researching on Wikipedia - and gin! When I was growing up, I was often told that my Quaker ancestors had helped bring an end to the repercussions of ‘Mother’s Ruin’ by promoting beer. This made some sense as the family had been involved with the brewing firm of Truman Hanbury and Buxton. In Brick Lane, Spitalfieds, London. ...
