I've dragged J along to a number of events, some more successful than the others, and I'm meditating on what is succeeding or not in this particular area. The best art in Seattle seems to be "happening": that is, the work involves an event, interaction, or performance. Monday, July 13, 2009. On judgment - for John. My new adviser just gutted a poem of mine and gave me some wonderful advice. On a practical level - on the level of judgment - he was totally correct about what the poem needed. But on a theoretical level, I am puzzling about this advice as a general stance.
