In 2008 The Duchess of York visited some of Europe’s most neglected institutions in Romania as part of an undercover investigation. She saw hundreds of children and teenagers locked away in state institutions. Children tied and restrained to beds, chairs and even benches in the yard.Starved of love, care and professional attention, these children had been forgotten and left in a life of neglect. The Duchess went on to visit maternity hospitals where she witnessed up to 18 abandoned babies per room.

However, other than a few snags with bank cards, which played out like a frustrating comedy show, the trip went extremely smoothly! The children and Brittany did very well and Jack arrived safely! I had a packed schedule with working at the hospital, which really consists of just holding babies now, and visiting other foundations and meeting with Directors. Note: we have more bracelets!

I am writing a very simple recipe today that is especially good when you want something not too fussy, this recipe is just that. 4-5 boiled medium or large potatoes ( depending on how much salad you want to make). 1-2 large boiled eggs. Salt to your taste. 1-2 tbsp of oil ( either one will do). 1-2 tbsp of vinegar or lemon juice. The potatoes will be boiled with their skin on and after they are boiled we take them out leave them to dry and then remove the skin.

My Year as a Fulbright Scholar in Romania. And so it ends. August 18, 2012. This blog has been a chronicle of my Fulbright year. I have enjoyed sharing it with all of you and hope you have enjoyed being part of the journey. The year is at an end and so the blog must also end. What have I done this past year?
