OR A TRUE RELATION OF STRANGE PROCEEDINGS IN A SOMERSETSHIRE LOFT. Tuesday, 4 August 2015. AT LAST.FINISHED (well almost). Royalists on the right, Parliamentarians on the left, and the wall will be behind the Roundheads for them to withdraw behind as the Cavaliers storm the hill. Mercurius Atticus: March 2015

OR A TRUE RELATION OF STRANGE PROCEEDINGS IN A SOMERSETSHIRE LOFT. Sunday, 22 March 2015. SIR BRUTUS BUCK'S REGIMENT. After the excitement of castle building, it's back to churning out 54mm ECW figures for the Lansdown campaign. Here we have the splendidly named Cornish royalist regiment, Sir Brutus Buck's. All A Call to Arms figures except the officer. I'm not sure what make he is, but he looks very much like the seargeant on the cover of the Airfix English Civil War book. OR A TRUE RELATION OF STRANGE PROCEEDINGS IN A SOMERSETSHIRE LOFT. Saturday, 29 November 2014. Here we have the first part of Army Red for my Funny Little Wigs project, Colonel Horace Bampfield's Regiment AKA 'The Fighting Pelicans'. The regiment in array. Uncle Toby puts the sentinels through their paces. The Grenadiers bearing Bampfield's Pelican on their mitre. The colours (pre 1707). Dr Hare, the Duke's chaplain blesses the colours whilst the regiment sing a toast to the duke. Almanza was the word.

Mercurius Atticus: SIR BEVIL GRENVILLE'S REGIMENT

OR A TRUE RELATION OF STRANGE PROCEEDINGS IN A SOMERSETSHIRE LOFT. Monday, 29 June 2015. SIR BEVIL GRENVILLE'S REGIMENT. Grenville's Cornish regiment, which gained fame at the Battle of Lansdown. Sir Bevil Grenvile's stand of pikes, which certainly preserved our army from a total rout with the loss of his most precious life:they stood as upon the eaves of a house for steepness, but as unmoveable as a rock.". Firing Musketeers by Replicants, others and pike by A Call to Arms. Labels: 54mm English Civil War.

Mercurius Atticus: ROYALIST DRAGOONS
http://mercuriusatticus.blogspot.com/2015/06/royalist-dragoons.html
OR A TRUE RELATION OF STRANGE PROCEEDINGS IN A SOMERSETSHIRE LOFT. Thursday, 25 June 2015. I'm not sure if Maurice's dragoons were present at Lansdown, but as the prince himself was it seems feasible. Coat colours are unknown as far as I am aware so I plumped for a rich royal blue. The Royalist dragoons were severely outnumbered at the battle. This gaudy popinjay was also missing a leg so a milliput limb was whipped up. I'm not very good at sculpting, but it will suffice. Mercurius Atticus: February 2015
http://mercuriusatticus.blogspot.com/2015_02_01_archive.html
OR A TRUE RELATION OF STRANGE PROCEEDINGS IN A SOMERSETSHIRE LOFT. Monday, 16 February 2015. PRINCE MAURICE OF THE PALATINATE. Nominally the commander of the Royal forces at Lansdown, I generally don't mind Prince Maurice, despite me being a rampant Parliamentarian. A better chap than his frightful brother Rupert. I'm sure he would have been mounted, but a dearth of mounted command figures has forced him to go on foot. Labels: 54mm English Civil War. Thursday, 12 February 2015. I painted them to look lik...

OR A TRUE RELATION OF STRANGE PROCEEDINGS IN A SOMERSETSHIRE LOFT. Wednesday, 27 August 2014. A CASTLE, TWO PARTERRES, AND A GROVE OF ORANGE TREES. We piled into the car today and headed up the Wye Valley to Goodrich castle. Last time I was there was in 1997 with the ECWS taking part in a brilliant siege with earthworks , gabions etc , probably one of the best re-enactment events I've taken part in. Roaring Meg, the only surviving ECW mortar used in the 1646 siege. The castle seems to grow out of the rock.

Mercurius Atticus: PARLIAMENTARIAN HORSE COMPLETED
http://mercuriusatticus.blogspot.com/2015/08/parliamentarian-horse-completed.html
OR A TRUE RELATION OF STRANGE PROCEEDINGS IN A SOMERSETSHIRE LOFT. Sunday, 2 August 2015. Here are the Roundhead cavalry in all their glory. Haselrigg's in the foreground, Waller's in the centre and the Bristol and Devon horse in the distance. Sir Arthur Hazelrig's regiment of horse. The famous 'lobsters' so called because "they are couvered in bright iron shell." 17c cuirassiers are my favourite troop type in history. Sir William Waller's own regiment. Hot on the heels of my last post, I got a message today from Mike Hoddinott at Conquest Games. Telling me the next 4 figures in their Wolfshead range were out today. I have been waiting for this second pack for over a year now so I was very excited. Labels: 28mm Robin of Sherwood. Sunday, 15 June 2014. Labels: 28mm Robin of Sherwood.
