I am fortunate to have lived in a number of beautiful places; Cary, in the Piedmont region and Sparta in the mountains of North Carolina; Vacaville, CA; and most recently Loveland, CO. Often I must travel on business and sometimes have a camera along. Actually most of these were taken with an iPhone!

Ta over two nights from the patio taken with the 8" F/5 newtonian. The object is the Cocoon Nebula which is designated as IC5146. You can see the gentle smoky haze of a May sunset looking to the south in the North Carolina mountains at Stone Mountain overlook near Sparta, NC on the Blue Ridge Parkway. Hoping for a clear sky tomorrow for imaging the night sky! Because of a Blue Ridge Parkway construction project this overlook as as close as one can get to the high imaging area near Doughton Park we love so much.
