Friday, June 18, 2010. A little less than a year ago Corrine and I joined a bible study group. A couple of our friends had an idea to start a small, in-home bible study group with us and a few other close friends of ours. We thought it was a great idea. We started our bi-weekly, child free, bible study shortly after. When we first started it was a bit awkward. This is mostly because nobody really knew where we were going to start, what we were going to be studying, and how deep we were going to go. It ad...

Beyond Hamburger Helper: April 2010
http://rondavelrecipes.blogspot.com/2010_04_01_archive.html
Thursday, April 29, 2010. You know you want to make this! I got this recipe off of Food Network's site. By Ellie Krieger. She slimmed down beef lasagna. Lately I have been trying to limit the amount of meat in our diet. So I loved this recipe. it was 1/2 the amount of ground beef, but still had that meaty flavor and texture! It's also easy to make, and it looks fabulous. 12 ounces whole-wheat lasagna noodles (15 noodles). 8 ounces lean ground beef (90 percent lean or higher). 2 teaspoons olive oil. Heat ...

Beyond Hamburger Helper: January 2009

Tuesday, January 6, 2009. BBQ Black Bean Pizza. This is a favorite for the quick night or the no brainer meal. Everything is simple and there's no way to screw it up. It was originally a WW recipe, but I made some changes. . FRESH CILANTRO makes all the difference. It still tastes good without it, but the real depth of flavor comes with fresh cilantro. (I started to just keep it on hand, because it's like 70 cents. So, it's okay if it rots in the fridge.). 1 tbsp cilantro, chopped. 1/3 cup barbecue sauce.

Monday, July 6, 2009. Ok, I had a lot of people asking for this recipe. Kudos to the Shumway family; I believe that is where I got this recipe originally and then it made it into the family cookbook. Favorite Brownie mix, prepared. 2 packages of Chocolate Mousse or 2 (3 oz) packages of Chocolate Pudding, prepared. 12 oz Cool Whip. 1/4 cup chopped pecans. 6-8 crushed Heath Bars. Prepare 9x13 pan of favorite brownies. Chill 3 hours or more before serving. Makes 12 servings. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

Sunday, May 30, 2010. Over the past few weeks I’ve been getting my fair share of emails from family and friends that are in the service all reminding me to remember the real reason for the holiday. I’ve gotten everything from military histories to heart warming prayers for soldiers. It’s a very important holiday to say the least. Especially now since we are currently in two wars and a natural disaster that have troops deployed. There are many soldiers that go to war and never seem to come home psychologi...

Sunday, June 26, 2011. Not Good Enough Gospel. My concern with this message is that it's only preaching to those that are lukewarm in their faith. I personally believe that many people are hurting and suffering and searching. My question is, where is the hope? Where is the love? My question is, are you willing to dive deeper? Are you willing to allow.God to fill your life with what you're lacking? Are you willing to fill the gaps and transform yourself? Links to this post. BRING BACK THE BLOG! The One Th...

Sunday, December 9, 2012. In today's Christianity, it is common to use fire as a metaphor for being spiritually alive. As if our faith is a raging fire consuming us and igniting those around us. I have experienced this. And I believe it is a great metaphor. It may be over played, but my love of fires fuels my love of this comparison. So how do we reconcile this? How do we keep life from taking the bucket of water and extinguishing our flame? How do we keep our busyness from smothering our hearts? The One...

Monday, July 26, 2010. Chapter 4 – Becoming a Man. I have two brothers. One two years older than I and one six years younger. On my dad’s side of the family I have four cousins, three male and one female. One my mother’s side I have 7 cousins with only two being female and the rest male. My dad has one sister and my mom has one sister. So as you can see the Y-chromosome is strong in my family. So to say that there’s a bit of testosterone floating around family get-togethers is an understatement. As if we...
