This is confusing to both the student and the teacher trying to glean the student’s understanding of the concept in their response. Trash it and move on. It was/is a struggle. Having a “Growth mindset” is a great idea in theory, but is it practical to think that we can use this type of idealistic thought in the classroom? Isn’t school a place of absolutes and memorized facts? In an age of test driven measures of achievement, how can we celebrate mistakes?
