The Long Head: August 2009
http://thelonghead.blogspot.com/2009_08_01_archive.html
Monday, August 31, 2009. Wow - what a day. My head is spinning with all the wonderful things we have seen. After a walk around Jorgen. Community and breakfast we headed into the city to meet the rest of the team. Office - it has been exquisitely painted with flowers from the Danish countryside and each wall represents a season. Then it was off to the Bell Tower - yes very high up but the only place to go to see over the city. After a quick walk we reached the Domkirken. Is located under the Nordea. Bank ...

The Long Head
http://thelonghead.blogspot.com/2009/09/after-all-delicious-food-we-have-been.html
Saturday, September 5, 2009. After all the delicious food we have been eating we all needed a trip to the gym and that is exactly where we started today. The DGI centre is a converted train repair building which has everything you can imagine in a sports centre. We had a hilarious morning playing badminton and basketball. Lunch was had at the offices of the Dept of Schools and Education. Again another stunning building. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Sunday, 13th Sept. Thursday, 10th sept.

The Long Head: Tuesday, 8th September

Thursday, September 10, 2009. Tuesday, 8th September. As we had a bit of time before our next visit we took a walk through the palace gardens and down to the Southern Jutland War Memorial. This is a beautiful monument to the men who died in the first world war. We finished back in town for a spot of shopping and coffee. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Sunday, 13th Sept. The Long Head: Friday 11th Sept

Sunday, September 13, 2009. After lunch we walked to the Museum for Modern art where we were confronted by some very challenging works. While the more educated amongst us talked of the deeper meanings for everything this particular philistine spent most of the time wondering how to get out! Dinner was an informal gathering at one of the banks in town where we had a bit of a sing-song around the guitar and we discovered that Palle plays lead for a band in town. We had a lot of fun. Sunday, September 13, 2009. The south of Denmark was not returned from the Germans until after the Second World War when America’s President Johnstone engineered the European Peace Accord. This legislation won back for Denmark more land than they had lost in the first place but ensured the end of hostilities between the two countries. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). The Long Head: Port of Aarhus
http://thelonghead.blogspot.com/2009/09/port-of-aarhus.html
Wednesday, September 2, 2009. This morning was a challenge. We were collected by the CEO of the Port of Aarhus who took us on a tour of the commercial port. Our first stop was one of the container wharfs where I expected to be given a bit of a talk about quantities, destinations and logistics of freight handling, etc - but I was very, very wrong! We ended up 50metres up a crane! From there it was a short walk - as everything is in Arhus - to another building seething with good ideas. The Incucube is ...

What an awesome weekend. It was our last planning get-together before we fly out and what better way to spend it that in gorgeous Gisborne. We awoke to spectacular views overlooking the farm out to the Pacific Ocean, sun streaming down. WOW! Beautiful, absolutely beautiful. I can now fully appreciate Sandra's passion for her home. Thanks Sandra and Rob for sharing your slice of paradise with us and for your fine hospitality! Check out our fantastic merino icebreaker tops! Sunday, August 02, 2009.

Denmark GSE 2009: Wednesday 30th September
http://dknzgse09.blogspot.com/2009/10/wednesday-30th-september.html
Today, we had again the priviledge to see inside the doors of a company that would not allow 'ordinary' people in for a tour. I have so many fond memories of my youth which involved Lego, and I felt like a big kid today. The Lego Group, Lego Factory and Idea House. Again, production here was hi-tech. Lego is made by an injection molding process. In the factory we were in, there were 760 molding machines! It was a top day. Goodness, not many days of the tour left now. It has gone so fast. Oct 2nd-5th: ...

Goodbye Ry hello Horsens! A bit sad for us all this morning as we say goodbye again to wonderful friends who we have become very close to over the past 6 days! Its not hard to feel a special bond with people who are so generous sharing their families and homes and stories with us. We look forward to catching up with many of you at Horsens next Friday night, and introducing you to our other 'adopted' families from Esberg and Århus. I can just hear a certain team member saying "Yay, its party time! The fac...
