Anna vs New Zealand. I wrote a post on my last morning in Christchurch, and later that day I used the local bus service to get to Rolleston, a small town that it took about an hour to reach. After the stress of whereabouts in the maze of suburbia to get off the bus, I reached the New World supermarket and was picked up by my next wwoofing host, Goldie. Anna vs New Zealand. A hobbit’s tale. We made our way along the winding paths that passed the hobbit holes, all uniquely designed and in different sizes for scaling reasons, and were led up to Bag End. Actually standing outside the gate with “No admittance except on party business” was surreal but pretty amazing. I took around 500 photos and am still disbelieving that I actually went. Anna vs New Zealand. Tongariro national park, 26/2/15. The actual climbing part of the walk then started which dampened the mood a little. We hiked up and around Mt Ngauruhoe and could see flashes of red and yellow running down the mountain like spilled paint, then walked across the flat, dusty plain of a crater of Mt Tongariro. We emerged at the edge of the red crater of Mt Tongariro that really was a deep red, then walked down to the emerald lakes, again, really emerald. February 28, 2015.
