Rosa: A Few More Bits and Pieces
https://tokyorosa.blogspot.com/2015/08/a-few-more-bits-and-pieces.html
Truth is not one thing, or even a system. It is an increasing complexity."- A. Rich. Thursday, August 6, 2015. A Few More Bits and Pieces. Just after sunrise on a slightly overcast day, this is what Arches looks like. It's unreal, isn't it? This is what my hand looks like when I've been in red clay all day. So it's no surprise that I love the red earth. If I wasn't careful, I kept falling into the sky. There is big, big sky out there. Everywhere you look: Big sky. The light is unreal. The owner's daughte...

Rosa: The Hands Are Too Big

Truth is not one thing, or even a system. It is an increasing complexity."- A. Rich. Wednesday, August 12, 2015. The Hands Are Too Big. So do I pull them off and start all over? Do I try to whittle down the fingers a bit to make them skinnier and try to make the hands look smaller that way? Do I try to fool myself that I can shade the hands with color so that they appear smaller? Do I leave them as is, because most of the time they're going to be hidden behind the piece? It's very hourglASSy, isn't it?

Rosa: Studio Daze
https://tokyorosa.blogspot.com/2015/08/studio-daze.html
Truth is not one thing, or even a system. It is an increasing complexity."- A. Rich. Sunday, August 9, 2015. I got a few hours in at the studio on Saturday so I finished this little one. I was working on a base that Dave threw before we went on vacation. It was drying out pretty quickly, so I had to work fast. There is lots of wonkiness built into in this little piece as a result. Anyway, she is the piece I relate the least to for some reason. Because it was a little too round, I darted the top, taking a...

Rosa: The Sky Is A Big Place
https://tokyorosa.blogspot.com/2015/08/the-sky-is-big-place_5.html
Truth is not one thing, or even a system. It is an increasing complexity."- A. Rich. Wednesday, August 5, 2015. The Sky Is A Big Place. 8:45 am - 8:45 pm. I have lots of stories from yesterday, starting with the 8:45 am train. We had champagne to celebrate. And this was part of our journey. In Silverton, we had lunch and wandered in and out of shops. We shared a funnel cake. We had a couple of local brews on the train home. I got this excellent photo of the gorge crossing. This was me on this day. You ar...

Rosa: A Long Day, Good News
https://tokyorosa.blogspot.com/2015/08/a-long-day-good-news.html
Truth is not one thing, or even a system. It is an increasing complexity."- A. Rich. Wednesday, August 12, 2015. A Long Day, Good News. It was kind of a busy day today. I had an early-ish therapy appointment. When I was leaving the casita, I found that Kelly had left a book for me on the hood of the car, a copy of an anatomy and physiology (the class I'm taking next semester) reference book that she snagged off the free table. Yay for free books! Then I made the 40 minute trek home. On the way home, I tr...

Truth is not one thing, or even a system. It is an increasing complexity."- A. Rich. Friday, August 14, 2015. I didn't blog yesterday because it was kind of a boring day. I was up most of the night, so then slept most of the morning. I got up, had a shower and some lunch, and then it was basically time to start dinner. I made vegetarian meatball sandwiches, salads, and steamed broccoli. When we got home, it was already Roomba o'clock and Dave practiced his clarinet, too. That brings us to this morning.

Rosa: Saturday, Moab
https://tokyorosa.blogspot.com/2015/08/saturday-moab.html
Truth is not one thing, or even a system. It is an increasing complexity."- A. Rich. Monday, August 3, 2015. We got up very early, too early (though not really, as we beat the heat and the crowds), to go out and visit Arches National Park. We were there around 7:00 am, well before the big tour buses start arriving around 9:00 am, so we were able to see some of the more popular attractions easily. We did a couple of the easiest hikes in the cool morning. After the tour, we stopped by the Village Market gr...

Truth is not one thing, or even a system. It is an increasing complexity."- A. Rich. Wednesday, August 5, 2015. Sunday, Moab, Cortez, Durango. Sunday morning, we got up early again and were back in Arches National Park before 7:00 am. The sky was cooperating that morning, too. As was the weather. As we drove out of the park, we planned a future visit. There is no way to see this place in two days. Then we were on our way again. As we neared Cortez, Colorado, Dave suggested that we stop for lunch....The s...

Truth is not one thing, or even a system. It is an increasing complexity."- A. Rich. Friday, August 7, 2015. The News from Home. We're home from our travels, of course. Got home a couple days ago actually. It was a really fun, exhausting trip. I still have one or two stories to tell.maybe. Since we've been home, a couple of things have happened:. I've also recently put in a little work at the studio on a new La Muerta figure. This calaverita is the smallest one yet, maybe eight inches tall? You are the s...
