Reflections of Light Through Rose Colored Windows

Monday, March 9, 2015. Yesterday my friends Jack Sullivan and Sekinah Hamlin were among the thousands who crossed the Edmund Pettus Bridge in Selma, AL. They did so remembering those who crossed it 50 years ago, shining a spotlight on the brutal nature of institutionalized racism in America. Over the years of my ministry, many (well-intentioned? Reflections of Light Through Rose Colored Windows: November 2012

http://rosewindowlight.blogspot.com/2012_11_01_archive.html

Tuesday, November 20, 2012. 20 Days of Nothing New. Sitting down to a feast of Thanksgiving goodness at church Sunday, I had opportunity to talk with my friend Mary about my Nothing New adventure. She was shocked to hear that I had actually included food in the "no shopping" ban. "Yeah, use up everything in the pantry," she said. "I should do that," she said. Haven't opened it yet. My pantry is a little overstocked . Monday, November 19, 2012. Church Chicks Are Hot. Today at Edison Middle School the Cent...

Reflections of Light Through Rose Colored Windows: Stand by Me

http://rosewindowlight.blogspot.com/2015/03/stand-by-me.html

Monday, March 9, 2015. Choose some men for us and go out, fight with Amalek." (Exodus 17:9). Have you ever had to make a choice about who you would take with you to do something troublesome and hard? What guided your decision about who you wanted at your side? Moses singles out a young man named Joshua (this is the first time he is mentioned in scripture). What a difference it makes - - choosing the right people to have at your side. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Be Thou My Vision. Lets Make a Deal.

Alright, so what now?: Misplaced Energy

http://alrightsowhatnow.blogspot.com/2013/08/misplaced-energy.html

Thursday, August 15, 2013. The enneagram number I identify with most is the 7. Exploring my enneagram number has been enlightening in a way I never expected. I signed up for the "enneathought" email daily, from enneagram institute. And received this note a few days ago:. As a Seven, you identify powerfully with a sense of excitement coming from anticipating future positive experiences at the expense of recognizing your own personal pain and anxiety. Notice this tendency in yourself today.".

Alright, so what now?: Insulting my Dog ... really?

http://alrightsowhatnow.blogspot.com/2014/06/insulting-my-dog-really.html

Wednesday, June 25, 2014. Insulting my Dog . really? The other day I was walking my dog, my sweet, quirky, overly enthusiastic dog - down to the beach. We had a great time, although she was clearly rusty on leash etiquette. This was fairly reasonable considering that she had not been on a proper walk in months. We had a backyard at my old place, so walks didn't happen nearly as often as they should. We need more advocates out there. June 25, 2014 at 6:23 PM. Hang in there, Bellas proud mama! I want recom...

Photo credit: Gretchen Mathos. Wednesday, May 22, 2013. Ok come on. This is a thing? Who thought of this? And who is going to make me some of these chairs? This is what my wrap around porch requires. Alright, so what now?: April 2013

http://alrightsowhatnow.blogspot.com/2013_04_01_archive.html

Tuesday, April 30, 2013. Remember those commercials where a movie star is standing by the stove and holds up an egg and says "this is your brain" and then throws it on a hot skillet and says "this is your brain on drugs"? I feel like overthinking could also be the cause of the frying egg. This is my brain overthinking: a massive explosion that occurs over one simple idea that starts as a spark and then blows up everything. Put out the explosion. Choose to have a better day. Tuesday, April 23, 2013. If we...

Alright, so what now?: Enthusiasm

http://alrightsowhatnow.blogspot.com/2013/08/enthusiasm.html

Wednesday, August 14, 2013. The theme of this summer has been Rediscovering Enthusiasm. Even enthusiasm for the monotony of daily life. I couldn't quite put my finger on what it was I have been working towards for the past three months, until last night. I was driving back from walking my dog on the beach with a new friend and Delilah's easy listening station stopped me on my radio scan. Usually, I can barely stomach 5 minutes of Delilah's optimism and syrupy sweet musings and advice.
