A Jewish Grandmother : Another Amazing Gd-Planned Trip
http://me-ander.blogspot.com/2015/08/another-amazing-gd-planned-trip.html
Saturday, August 8, 2015. Another Amazing Gd-Planned Trip. As you should know by now, we don't have a car. And considering our ages and financial position, it doesn't look like we ever will. So, we're dependent on public transportation and the siyate d'Shmaya. Aka Hand of Gd or tremping/. Last week on a day off, I had been invited to the Psagot Yekev/Winery. It's not far from Shiloh. All the buses to Jerusalem stop nearby. It wasn't a bad walk up, and I arrived in time for the ceremony! 8/9/15, 7:29 AM.

A Jewish Grandmother : Surreal Busride Home
http://me-ander.blogspot.com/2015/07/surreal-busride-home.html
Wednesday, July 29, 2015. Strange what one notices on the bus, especially when sitting up front. Ever since I have reached my rather exalted age, I've made a point of sitting in the first seats on the bus, which in Israel are reserved for the "elderly and handicapped" when they aren't occupied. Could the bus driver be deaf? She barely stopped talking for a second, and he had no way to lip read. He couldn't be deaf I realized. My mind began to imagine possible causes. Had he been somehow injur...My mind w...

A Jewish Grandmother : The Phone Kept on Ringing
http://me-ander.blogspot.com/2015/08/the-phone-kept-on-ringing.html
Friday, August 7, 2015. The Phone Kept on Ringing. Suddenly there were a whole bunch of phone calls. I was at work, and I'm not really supposed to be on the phone, but I had to answer. I had to reassure all those calling me to ask how I was. Take rides aka hitchhike. As soon as I heard the location, it was clear that it had to have been an attack on soldiers. Soldiers are someone's kids, too. It doesn't make me feel any better about it, just because the victims aren't neighbors. We're all in ...I had bee...

A Jewish Grandmother : Books Are Waiting... A Book Review, "Destiny's Call"
http://me-ander.blogspot.com/2012/03/books-are-waiting-book-review-destiny.html
Tuesday, March 6, 2012. Books Are Waiting. A Book Review, "Destiny's Call". Two types of books are waiting. I have the books I've promised to review and the books cooking in my head. One of those I must review and have already read is Destiny's Call. I read the book on a Shabbat afternoon a couple of weeks ago. It's a quick-reading book, actually designed as food for thought about the weekly. Torah Portions of the Week from the first book of the. Torah, Chumash,. Simply put, it's Spitz's. For ESL or EFL ...

A Jewish Grandmother : Magic aka Golden Hour for 52Frames
http://me-ander.blogspot.com/2015/08/magic-aka-golden-hour-for-52frames.html
Tuesday, August 4, 2015. Magic aka Golden Hour for 52Frames. This week's challenge/theme for 52Frames was the Magic aka Golden Hour. When the rise and/or fall of the sun causes a series of color changes. I ended up submitting a photo of the sunrise taken from my house. I must admit that I have a perfect view of the dawn. Here are a few of the other photos I thought captured the special light. Dusk, Sha'ar Binyamin. Netivot Shopping Center, notice the golden color of the building. Magic aka Golden Hour.

A Jewish Grandmother : A Day Home
http://me-ander.blogspot.com/2015/08/a-day-home.html
Tuesday, August 11, 2015. Lovely swimming pool water, Shiloh. Today I'm home in Shiloh. OK, it's not a quiet day. We're having most of the grandkids over. We'll go to the pool. Females in the morning and males in the afternoon. And there are activities for kids that we can go to, also. But I wonder if we'll be able to drag them away from the tv/dvd and their books. At night there's a meeting of the local book club. I haven't finished reading the book, All the Light We Cannot See. Dont Know Exactly How.

A Jewish Grandmother : Public Transportation Woes
http://me-ander.blogspot.com/2015/08/public-transportation-woes.html
Wednesday, August 5, 2015. On one hand the bus service here in Israel is improving. There are cell phone applications that will tell you what bus is coming when. And there are computerized signs by some of the bus stops that also indicate which bus, destination and in how much time. In Jerusalem they are trilingual (when working) with Hebrew, Arabic and English. This sign in Ariel was very useful when I went to visit my cousin. No trips in the near future. A Jewish Grandmother : Missing Letter?
http://me-ander.blogspot.com/2015/08/missing-letter.html
Thursday, August 6, 2015. I'm writing this morning's post now, last night. Does that make sense? I have a very busy day today but still want to post rather OCD on the blogs daily. Yes, I'm probably nuts. I'm getting terribly confused. Just before I went to the pool tonight/last night I sent a letter to friends I'm meeting today, later this morning, and when I got back I was surprised there were no replies/responses. Gd willing it will all work out somehow. Its NOT your fault. Stop obsessing. Purslane Can...

A Jewish Grandmother : Me, The Beer Maven?
http://me-ander.blogspot.com/2015/07/me-beer-maven.html
Thursday, July 30, 2015. Me, The Beer Maven? The other night I again joined Doug, of Israel Brews and Views, and his panel of beer mavens in a beer tasting event, this time to judge the best Israeli made amber beer. I must admit that not all of them were good, as you can see from this picture of me trying to figure out which was the worst of the seven we had to taste. The results will soon be published on Israel Brews and Views. So keep checking there for the news of the brews. 7/30/15, 10:44 AM. We Want...
