White Mountain Photography News: May 2015
http://whitemountainphotography.blogspot.com/2015_05_01_archive.html
Friday, May 29, 2015. The bears are out and I had already two peaceful encounters with them. Moving from a highly populated environment as the San Francisco Bay Area to bear country made me a bit uncomfortable at first. It didn't help to hear all the horror stories of mauled hikers, killed joggers and campers that got eaten by a bear overnight. Luckily right then I found a bright yellow book. Seriously, at the very first it was the color that got my attention.called Bears Without Fear. Ha, I thought, her...

White Mountain Photography News: September 2014
http://whitemountainphotography.blogspot.com/2014_09_01_archive.html
Sunday, September 21, 2014. Beacons of hard work and commitment. Lighthouses have always fascinated me.withstanding weather and waves, lighting the way for many seafarers, doesn't that seem grand, heroic and a bit romantic? As we prepared for our "explore BC tour" I knew we would hit the coast and I started to research which lighthouses would be on or near our route. 1] Now that doesn't quite sound that romantic anymore. I will list all my resources at the end for further reading. This is the Active Pass...

White Mountain Photography News: The 20 hour hike
http://whitemountainphotography.blogspot.com/2015/07/the-20-hour-hike.html
Saturday, July 4, 2015. The 20 hour hike. Or, a hike to remember. We also hiked up Saddleback Ridge earlier in the year to see where the way down would start. Unfortunately due to the snow we had to abandon our attempt and we didn't make it to the top. But we thought we had a pretty good idea of the surroundings and should find the trail down easily.little did we know. Last Saturday the day for the big adventure had come! Route from Mt. Stevens to Premier Lake via Mt. Teepee and Saddleback Ridge. At Mt T...

White Mountain Photography News: Another walk with the wolves
http://whitemountainphotography.blogspot.com/2015/07/another-walk-with-wolves.html
Wednesday, July 1, 2015. Another walk with the wolves. As you can see I love going on a walk with the Wolves of the Northern Lights Wildlife Wolf Centre. And it seems the joy is mutual. -). At the beginning of June, Monika and I visited the Wolves and went on a walk with them together with other wolf enthusiasts. It was a rather bright and contrasty day. Tough for photography.instead of fighting the contrast I decided this time to work with it, to intensify it. Or take a plunge into the water to cool off.

White Mountain Photography News: April 2015

Tuesday, April 28, 2015. I just recently made a batch of lemon curd. Fascinated by it's golden color, I could not resist to photograph my result and "boast" it on facebook. To my very surprise it got a lot of likes.and the request for sharing the recipe. The idea for the April Conservation Tip was born. In a recent discussion I was asked why I share recipes for homemade goods in my conservation tips, shouldn't we rather save the rain forest instead of preparing food at home. Zest of two lemons. It is not...

White Mountain Photography News: June 2014
http://whitemountainphotography.blogspot.com/2014_06_01_archive.html
Sunday, June 29, 2014. It is simply amazing how the flora around me explodes in spring and early summer.as if all the plants were locked into a small box and then all of the sudden are being released. The first show of color in spring goes to the Pulsatilla. Quickly followed by the Shooting Star. And by the time Arrowleaf Balsamroot. Colors the hillsides, spring is here to stay. Little gem, unknown flower #1. Not quite sure on this one, Butter-and-Eggs? With it's enormous seed pod. Not really a wildflower.

Tuesday, April 29, 2014. Often did we drive by the Hoodoos on our way north to Invermere this last year. I always marvel at their extraordinary formations and unique look. But not until I read an article in the Brithish Columbia Magazine. This spring did it occur to me that one can actually hike the Hoodoos. A few days after I read the article, I grabbed the boys and dogs and off we went to explore them. And of course down the crevasses and stone sculptures of the Hoodoos themselves. People though have a...
