Went out taking photographs in the same area as I took many of the photographs for assignment 2, and found myself taking landscapes with the same design elements. Here is the triangle of Grasmoor again, but taken from a better angle so that the triangle itself dominates the image. Ros's OCA Learning Log. Monday, 23 August 2010. Visited a photographic exhibition by Fred Hill, a Lake District landscape photographer. I tried to work our what made the photographs work so well, and think that there are number of key things that are common to most of the work:. Choice of subject - stunningly beautiful views in the most part, otherwise interesting composition such as boats at the edge of a lake, or a shoreline with a pebbly beach and hills in the background. I also found that there needed to be a dominant group so that the eye could move around but ultimately have a preferred area to settle (rather like Positioning two points, where points of a similar size and nature stop the eye from resolving the image).
