Beacon food forest – seattle. The Beacon Food Forest. Is proposed to be a fully public 7 acre food forest situated within 2.5 km of the centre of Seattle. Once it is finished there will be over 1000 species of plants included within. This is a fascinating project and we look forward to seeing how it develops but for now, check out the video below. Here at Roundfield we’re already familiar with the excellent work done by the London Orchard Project. Last year they planted up an orchard of about 30 fruit trees in a site adjacent to our Avery Hill community food garden. Project at Greenwich University. They are a not for profit charity that was formed in 2009 following a Transition Brixton meeting when it was realised that there was a huge amount of enthusiasm for growing fruit in London, yet no organisation to offer the support and expertise.
