Sounds Good: June 2015
http://soundsgoodpa.blogspot.com/2015_06_01_archive.html
Sunday, June 28, 2015. Don't Mess with Pleasure Island. This is why you don’t Mess With Texas. Who knew one of the biggest challenges of picking up trash is keeping your bag open? Tiffany Hamilton of the Port Arthur City Council arranged a Saturday morning cleanup of Pleasure Island. Her family, island residents and others who want to keep the area looking nice picked up water bottles, beer cans, fishing paraphernalia and random items of interest to get the levee and pier area looking good. O join in, co...

Sounds Good: Adapting and being a dad
http://soundsgoodpa.blogspot.com/2015/07/adapting-and-being-dad.html
Sunday, July 19, 2015. Adapting and being a dad. My bad school supplies. Go to www.adaptolution.com. To learn more, read her blog and start decorating. 8220;Just Be A Dad”. George Cave, Ph.D., is basically telling fathers that they have to “know when to fold them.” Why talk to a teen with some “why” questions when you actually want some different answers. Try to hear what a child is trying to say and then allow that child to make his or her own decisions as much as possible. The Port Arthur News.

http://soundsgoodpa.blogspot.com/2014_09_01_archive.html
Monday, September 22, 2014. A new taste from Bebeaux'. Bebeaux’s to host Shrimp Creole launch at Madison’s. I’m loving watching the Beabeaux’s Cajun Food Line get popular here in Southeast Texas. That gumbo is ready to eat and doesn’t even need my usual round of extra seasoning. Want to try the new Shrimp Creole? Get to the Launch into Fall party at Madison’s on Dowlen from 7 pm to midnight on Oct. 4. Look for it at H-E-B, Market Basket, Brookshire Brothers and The Big Store at Crystal Beach. BCP ads mod...

Sounds Good: Get into "girltrunks"
http://soundsgoodpa.blogspot.com/2015/08/version1.html
Sunday, August 9, 2015. I wonder what actual percentage of the American female population actually enjoys shopping for and wearing swimsuits. Okay, let’s narrow the search to those over 25. But hey, it’s summer in Southeast Texas and we have stuff to do. Sure there’s the resort pool, but there’s Sea Rim State Park and kayaking in Village Creek and boating up to the Neches River Wheelhouse. We have to look good! Have you ever heard of the Paint Quality Institute? Spice it up with paint. Use different ...

Daily Grind: January 2009
http://panewsgrind.blogspot.com/2009_01_01_archive.html
Wednesday, January 28, 2009. Couple in “Baby Grace” trial makes me sick. I’ve been captivated by the trail of Kimberly Dawn Trenor, the mother of the little girl dubbed Baby Grace. Since our country has laws stating we are innocent until proven guilty, I’ll lay off my deep personal feelings about Trenor and her husband, Royce Clyde Zeigler II. Two-year-old Riley Ann Sawyers was tortured to death, her body stuffed inside a plastic container and stored in a shed before she was dumped in Galveston Bay.

Thursday, September 17, 2009. Uncle Larry fed Motiva family. Anyone who meets Larry Roussel becomes his new best friend. I was walking past the Hampton Inn a week after Hurricane Ike and found a tent with a whole lotta cookin’ goin’ on. He hasn’t put his spoons down yet. Just a year ago I considered coffee a cold-weather treat. I’m closer to an every-day drinker now. The Port Arthur News. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Welcome to the Daily Grind. Daily Grind: December 2008
http://panewsgrind.blogspot.com/2008_12_01_archive.html
Wednesday, December 31, 2008. So, tonight is New Year's Eve. Where I grew up, in Michigan, I'd never even dreamed that New Year's was a time to go and buy fireworks. And even if I had fireworks, I'd never dream of going outside and popping them when the clock struck midnight. It's cold up there. So, when I moved down to Texas and saw that warmer climates had two fireworks seasons instead of one, I was a little intrigued at the novelty. Now it just seems like old hat. Um Well, then where should we go?

Daily Grind: My backyard looks like "Life Without People"
http://panewsgrind.blogspot.com/2009/08/my-backyard-looks-like-life-without.html
Saturday, August 1, 2009. My backyard looks like "Life Without People". Thanks to the recent rains and my lack of motivation to cut the grass my yard resembles something out of the History Channel show "Life Without People.". If you're not familiar with the show, it chronicles what the earth would be like after humans are gone. Buildings crumble, bridges fall and trees and foliage take back over their turf. No way. This was my project and I was not going to be beat by some weeds and grass. As I inched my...

Daily Grind: April 2009

Tuesday, April 14, 2009. Video killed the radio star — so what about newspapers. Video killed the radio star. It wasn't especially good but it had a message that can be seen today. The song is the first video shown on the debut of MTV in 1981 and celebrates the golden age of radio. Ironically the music video paved the way for a big change in the way people listened to their music. Here's another remember when for you; waiting on the newspaper to arrive, flipping to your favorite section and reading.

Daily Grind: Battle of the dressings
http://panewsgrind.blogspot.com/2009/11/battle-of-dressings.html
Thursday, November 26, 2009. Battle of the dressings. As Thanksgiving Day drew near our office talk turned to food. 8220;What’s your favorite Thanksgiving Day food? 8221; was the question posed to staffers. We soon had a winner — dressing. Then I posed an innocent question — “what kind of dressing, rice or cornbread? I’m still shocked by the response — “rice? It seems I was in the minority that serves rice dressing, or dirty rice as I call it. Dirty rice has become an easy dish to make, thank God. My dad...
