Typical day reach charts. Route has created a digital map of Great Britain. The map of the road network is derived from data provided by HERE, the location specialist. For interior spaces such as tube stations and shopping malls, scale drawings are translated into digital versions that are compatible with the road network. We have analysed a random sample of 1000 frames in each environment, across the 15-minute segments in the day, to show audience numbers over a typical day. We then compiled reach figures for each hourly period, and plotted these over a 24 hour day in the below charts. The aim is to go beyond simply counting those who pass an advertising frame and have an opportunity to see it, to determine who might actually look at a particular display in each given set of circumstances. Route continues the pioneering work undertaken in the past with Dr. Paul Barber and Birkbeck College, part of the University of London.
