Nuffield Trip 2010

Wednesday, September 29, 2010. I have now popped the Nuffield bubble and am back to reality (and my own bed). At this point I need to thank everyone that has made this year possible. I am not going to individually name everyone but thanks in particular to my family, Nuffield Australia, GRDC, and everyone that has hosted me, fed me, given me a bed or beer, or helped organise visits and contacts. Thanks to all the boys from my GFP. Thanks for the memories and look forward to keeping in touch. Season. U...

Nuffield Trip 2010: February 2010

http://rowanpaulet.blogspot.com/2010_02_01_archive.html

Friday, February 26, 2010. Have spent the last couple of days in Canberra. Had a tour and tea at parliment house. Full day at the GRDC for our debreifing. Had speakers from DAFF, EU, Mexican embassy, USDA, GRDC, AWI, RIRDC and ABARE. Lots of information and the relevance will become increasingly important as we make our way around the world. Fly out to London tonight. In shorts and a Tshirt now but got the beanie and coat on top of the pack. Tuesday, February 23, 2010. Its all about to start!

Nuffield Trip 2010: March 2010

http://rowanpaulet.blogspot.com/2010_03_01_archive.html

Tuesday, March 30, 2010. In size in the country. They use 600t of corn each day and 200t of Soy meal. We are all blown away by the scale of things here. Good to see another country competing on a free market though as we do. No subsidies like US and UK. Hopefully see some Soya beans harvesting tomorrow on our way up to Brazilia. Monday, March 29, 2010. On a positive note we have seen some amazing countryside on our pilgrimage up to Goianna. Lots of crops, cattle and coffee. Will keep u posted. We have no...

Nuffield Trip 2010: El Reno

http://rowanpaulet.blogspot.com/2010/09/el-reno.html

Thursday, September 2, 2010. On Wednesday I headed to the ARS at El Reno to have a look at some of the research they are doing on integrated farming systems. So far out of all the places I have visited, this climate in Texas/Oklahoma is as close to home as I have come. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). View my complete profile. Next stop - NZ. Everlasting Farm: September 2010

http://everlastingfarm.blogspot.com/2010_09_01_archive.html

My travels as a Nuffield Scholar in 2010. Thursday, September 16, 2010. The main reason for staying in Rosario. Is to visit Bertini. No till seeders. I've been wanting to go zero. For years but I haven't. Been able to find one that I think will do the job at home. A friend put me onto this place and senior. Showed me around and explained the whole system. One of the biggest innovations. Over the centre of the disc forcing it down while cultivating a seed bed with the front coulter. Rosario and other stuff.

My travels as a Nuffield Scholar in 2010. Tuesday, March 30, 2010. I love coffee. So it was great to see where 35% of the worlds coffee is produced. These guys go for the quality as opposed to the quantity market. So they direct market all the produce. One of their customers is the Queen. We where then treated to some great coffee. Cheers. Sunday, March 28, 2010. Thursday, March 25, 2010. Dave and Roe standing atop of the sun god Pyrimid just out of Mexico City. It's a colosal structure and at 2500 m...

Everlasting Farm: June 2010

http://everlastingfarm.blogspot.com/2010_06_01_archive.html

My travels as a Nuffield Scholar in 2010. Thursday, June 24, 2010. Wedgetail wheat has been grazed once and is ready for the twin lambing ewes to lamb in. Early sown canola is looking good and is due for a selective herbicide and the first nitrogen application. This is the Preston wheat. It was sown on the 2 May onto sub soil moisture. Preston is a new wheat from the CSIRO's high rainfall wheat breeding program, it's not the best looking wheat (pale green) but it seems to yield well. Sunday, June 20, 2010.

My travels as a Nuffield Scholar in 2010. Sunday, April 11, 2010. After six weeks of traveling, 17 flights and six countries, this is what I woke up to this morning. It's great to be home. All the cattle work is done on horse back including the yard work. Beautiful horses and similar to the Australian stock horse and very skilled stock men. BBQ Uruguay Style. Beef and Beer, it doesn't get much better. Grain Production in Uraguay. Monday, April 5, 2010. We had lunch at Bodega Irurtia. Sunday, April 4, 2010.

My travels as a Nuffield Scholar in 2010. Friday, July 30, 2010. Grazing Canola Update 2. It's coming back well. It's not to dissimilar to the other canola growing on the farm, but still very different to the ungrazed canola in the foreground. Interestingly to ungrazed canola doesn't have many pods due to all the frosts we've been having. Sunday, July 25, 2010. Sunday night and were all exhausted. Saturday building the wall, Sunday seeding everlastings at Koja place in Kojonup. Saturday, July 17, 2010.

My travels as a Nuffield Scholar in 2010. Thursday, September 16, 2010. I have to confess, I'm a bit of a fan of the red stuff. So when the opportunity came to visit one of Argentina's largest and most prestigious wineries came up, I was there. Bodegas Lopez. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). View my complete profile. http://everlastingfarm.blogspot.com/2010/09/getting-high-in-mountains.html

My travels as a Nuffield Scholar in 2010. Thursday, September 16, 2010. Getting high in the mountains. Traveling from Uruguay to Argentina I couldn't pass the opportunity to visit the Andes. So i traveled to Mendoza. For a two day break to indulge in two of my favorite things, mountains ( I you'd to teach outdoor education before farming) and wine (mostly school kids! Weather patten it's been very dry, all of the rain has been in the east coast of Australia. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).
