GIS Day is an educational event that enables geographic information systems (GIS) users and vendors to open their doors to schools, businesses, and the general public to showcase real-world applications of GIS. The event is held on the third Wednesday of November each year, during Geography Awareness Week. On that day, organizations all over the world that use GIS participate by holding or sponsoring an event of their own. The 2013 GIS Day Celebration was held on the 20 th.

The main lab also functions as a map production lab. The lab creates and prints maps for all uses and fields. Trained personnel are ready to help students and companies design their maps and posters of various sizes.
