denis bider: Attractiveness is not shallow
http://denisbider.blogspot.com/2015/08/attractiveness-is-not-shallow.html
Attractiveness is not shallow. There are large groups of men online they're mostly men who consider themselves unattractive, and adopt this as their identity, and an embittered perch from which to carp about life. If you're an unattractive man or woman stop the lifestyle that makes you feel and look that way. Now tell me. Who wants a person who chooses a lifetime of these ugly thoughts? Attractiveness is not shallow. You're not being judged for something outside your control. It's not in ...Subsc...

VS 2015 projects: "One or more errors occurred". For the most part, I find that Visual Studio 2015 is awesome. However, it did ship with kinks that need to be worked out. Not least, it has crashed on me from time to time, while working on a large solution. I recently experienced a problem where I couldn't open Visual C projects (.vcxproj) after I copied them to another location. When trying to open the projects, VS 2015 would give me nothing more than this "extremely useful" error:. Posted by denis bider.

denis bider: "Good, traditional" traits
http://denisbider.blogspot.com/2015/08/good-traditional-people.html
Good, traditional" traits. I find that "good" and "traditional" don't exactly go hand in hand. If it makes sense, it's not called tradition. It's called common sense. If it's called tradition, it means that at some level, it doesn't. Make sense. It's being practiced despite it. It does not make a person good. If they follow imperatives that violate sense. It makes them compliant. Posted by denis bider. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). View my complete profile. Apple design is anti-nerd.

denis bider: Errors in destructors: C++ and the case for aggregate exceptions
http://denisbider.blogspot.com/2015/07/errors-in-destructors-2.html
Errors in destructors: C and the case for aggregate exceptions. See update in my following post:. Aggregated exceptions: Proposal summary. In a recent post. I suggested that when a destructor detects a cleanup error, throwing an exception is an acceptable way to report it. I argued that reporting problems is always preferable to ignoring them, so if a destructor does. It turns out that, with C 11, the language committee took the opposite stance on the issue. Quite simply, all. Furthermore, even with -Wall.

As far back as I can remember, I always had trouble getting up in the morning. and no trouble staying up during the night. I failed to stop the slippage at either end of sleep. If I tried forcing myself to get up at a consistent hour, this became increasingly difficult until my eyelids felt like cinder blocks, and it was impossible to honor the alarm. If I tried to make myself fall asleep at the same time each night, I would increasingly just toss and turn in bed. That is approximately right. One cou...

Rest in peace, victims at Charlie Hebdo. A thought in light of yesterday's killings in France. People do not deserve to be mocked, but ideas do. Organized religion - uniting under the umbrella of a sacred belief - is fundamentally a dangerous and harmful idea. Even when the people involved do charity, and do not bomb and shoot. Ideas kill people. But unlike people, ideas can't be killed. Mocking them intelligently is the best we can do. Don't let that go. Voices like the following will protest:. Subscrib...

denis bider: SFTP and OpenSSH's "do as we please"
http://denisbider.blogspot.com/2015/07/sftp-and-opensshs-do-as-we-please.html
SFTP and OpenSSH's "do as we please". It bugs me that OpenSSH pull all the same crap that Microsoft was vilified for years ago. They sabotaged the SFTP standardization process. They are "embracing and extending" as they please, and leveraging their market share in unilateral decisions that ignore the needs of other implementations. Because you know, it makes sense for OpenSSH to launch their SFTP subsystem in a way that runs. And it makes sense to send garbage output from. Years ago, cough. So my beef wi...

Study: Sweeteners cause diabetes through changes in gut flora. I previously wrote about my experiences with glucose intolerance:. My brush with diabetes: Zero-calorie sweeteners and insulin resistance. Insulin, diabetes, exercise, and frequent urination. A study has now found:. Diabetes: The Sweetener Paradox. These results suggest that the sweetener-induced glucose intolerance is caused by changes in the gut flora and the different proportions of its bacterial representatives”, the study authors c...
