Their merits are, nevertheless, undeniable, with five marathon races in four different countries between them as well as a half-Iron Man each. Myself addressing the press conference. At long last, the Ultra-Rider. Challenge for charity was officially launched this week at a Press Conference. The launch was a success. I explained to the reporters the details of the rides that will happen in 3 weeks, and also the connection with RTK4Charity.

I have finally settled down and am on the way to recovery. 42 hours without sleep… Never thought it was possible. On Friday I woke up at 0430 for a breakfast and final checks. 0700 we had a very good debriefing meeting. The organisers were so professional never overlooking a single detail. At 0815 the final horn and off we went. It was a great day for battle! None I can recall. What I would do differently?

December 8, 2011. 175 km RAM – Race around Malta non-stop with 3400 meters of elevation. Comparing with the La Marmotte in the French Alps 184 km with 5000 meters of elevation. Both in an odd 9 hours. Strangely I find our hills quad-mashers with elevations of 20% not being uncommon in the west coast. Probably my last Century (100 miles) for 2011. RAM – 1st edition.

An extraordinary sportsman and ultra-marathon rider. He won the Race Across America 5 times. An amazing focus and determination against nature, when the body tells you to stop and he says it must go on…. Passed away tragically in a car accident whilst training in Slovenia, his beloved country. A sad loss.
