I haven't put anything up on this blog for several months now. for whatever reason, I posted a couple of late, late ski days over on my Trails blog rather than here. People were asking about trail conditions so I posted ski pics for them. think I got the message across? From an ice climbing trip with friends on Saturday:. Gotta love ice climbing. The approach almost always involves a ridiculously steep walk up AND a bushwhack! Why bother with a rope?

Ruby Mountain Ski Days. Wednesday, November 12, 2014. All hail the weather guessers! Training for ski season is under way, and our local weather guessers are flexing their ski muscles, too. Or in this case snowboard muscles - one of our local weather guys is also a backcountry boarder. So far this year Ullr has been pretty stingy up in the Rubies, but he who predicts such things thinks that's likely to change, and that we'll have rideable snow by Thanksgiving. Here's his blog posting on the subject.

Friday, April 20, 2012. The local ski season ended way too early this winter. Ditto for the local ice climbing season. The Catskill resorts were able to eek out the crumby snow conditions only until March 25 before they gave up in utter desperation. The ice climbing season had ended about 3 weeks prior to that.
