Australian Gemstones and Sapphires. The moment I held that stone up to the sun and saw a deep vibrant royal blue colour throughout the sapphire I knew I was hooked. That was the confession of Peter Brown when he dug his first sapphire while out fossicking on the Sapphire Gemfields. The year was 1974 and the 21 year old had arrived in an old VW Beetle and set up camp along the creek banks west of Rubyvale. Bring in your precious find and he’ll be happy to let you know if you can retire from your day job!
