giant old lady.: October 2010
http://giantoldlady.blogspot.com/2010_10_01_archive.html
Because "Little Old Lady" was already taken. Duh. Sunday, October 10, 2010. So after being sick and refinishing a table, I got a shiny new job that takes up lots of my time. It's pretty awesome. So I'm still around, just not around enough to post every other day about baking bread and flowers blooming and other super exciting stuff. Instead of trying to catch you up on everything that's happened in the last six months or so, I thought I'd sum up the most recent highlights and just take it from there.

giant old lady.: December 2010
http://giantoldlady.blogspot.com/2010_12_01_archive.html
Because "Little Old Lady" was already taken. Duh. Wednesday, December 1, 2010. I am convinced that "Oh, it's cute" is a euphemism for, "Well, it doesn't look like a blind, one-armed eight-year-old tried to cut your hair while riding a tilt-a-whirl.". If I had known I was going to lose nine inches of my hair I would've just gone for ten and donated it. But alas, she snuck it on me. Also I do not have the wardrobe to pull off hair like this. I know, I know. I will never ever be that cool. Cry me a river.

giant old lady.: November 2009
http://giantoldlady.blogspot.com/2009_11_01_archive.html
Because "Little Old Lady" was already taken. Duh. Tuesday, November 24, 2009. Yard: The Saga Continues. I believe most of you already know this story, so I'll make it short: a few weeks ago I was aerating, fertilizing, and otherwise cultivating the flower beds in the front of our house to plant bulbs for the spring. Ben bought me packages of crocus, tulip, and hyacinth bulbs to plant. All in all I dug up nearly 165. Links to this post. Labels: posts that show how boring my life really is. I'd like to tak...

giant old lady.: Tillamook, Oregon
http://giantoldlady.blogspot.com/2011/01/tillamook-oregon.html
Because "Little Old Lady" was already taken. Duh. Saturday, January 29, 2011. Indeed, going to a cheese factory is kind of cool, but someone else's pictures of a cheese factory are actually quite boring. I won't subject you to them. Enjoy this weird plant instead, and know that the good folks in Tillamook have a fun little factory with lots of conveyor belts and vats and cogs and gears and whatnot. Because "Little Old Lady" was already taken. Duh. Sunday, February 20, 2011. How to eat vegetables. 1 Cut up some fresh vegetables- whatever is laying around. For me it was broccoli, zucchini, and onion. Dredge them in egg and milk. 2 Mix up your favorite breading. Mine was a mix of wheat-free flours, salt and pepper, garlic powder, a dash of sugar, and my secret ingredient. I don't have an in-focus picture of this process, but you're smart- you get the idea. 5 All right, so this is my "secret" ingredient.

Because "Little Old Lady" was already taken. Duh. Sunday, January 10, 2010. I'm going on hiatus for a while. There's just not much going on- it's rainy, we're going to show openings and bars, we're making bread at home, we're hanging out with dogs. Things are relatively quiet and after a cacophonous end to last year. So until then, enjoy a picture of my dog leaning off a dock to drink water from a lake. Links to this post. giant old lady.: Irony
http://giantoldlady.blogspot.com/2011/02/irony.html
Because "Little Old Lady" was already taken. Duh. Saturday, February 19, 2011. I mean real irony, not the concept that has been worn down to the bone, much like "organic" and "sustainable". Also, a big part of my job is to talk about "sustainability." Sometimes I come home from work and wash my mouth out. And then I do it again for ending sentences with prepositions. Labels: believe it or not. Life is good after all. February 20, 2011 at 11:40 AM. Oh, does that need some explanation? Who Am I Again?

Because "Little Old Lady" was already taken. Duh. Saturday, February 27, 2010. So I'll admit, I could probably be healthier than I do, even with the wheat quarantine. I could probably stand to put down the salt shaker every once in a while, skip the second glass of wine, and maybe walk myself around the block more often. But curiosity finally got the best of me this morning, and I picked up my carton of eggs to check them out while the pan was heating up for some over-easy goodness. It turns out one ...

giant old lady.: March 2010
http://giantoldlady.blogspot.com/2010_03_01_archive.html
Because "Little Old Lady" was already taken. Duh. Thursday, March 25, 2010. Dear Twitter: First Draft. 795 Folsom St., Suite 600. San Francisco, CA 94107. March 24, 2010. My name is Melanie. I have had a Twitter account (BourbonTower) since December 2009. In that time, I have published approximately 115 “tweets.” In that time I have found Twitter both enjoyable and, strangely enough, a useful news aggregate. What I discovered, though, was the following clause in the Terms of Service:. Links to this post.

bitterbartender: July 2009
http://bartendercommentary.blogspot.com/2009_07_01_archive.html
The service industry has turned me bitter. Saturday, July 4, 2009. I am sooo exciting! I would do something on the grill, but its out of propane and I don't have the money to fill it up. I also don't know where to go to fill it up and I don't think they would let me take the propane cylinder on the bus. I really need to work at that mall again. Its where the money and people are in this city. I enjoy working downtown. Its been very enlightening. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Subscribe in a Reader. Things w...
