The time has come. No, it's not time that I put this blog to bed, not yet anyway, but it is time for me to start documenting our return. I have hesitated because I don't want to be that expat who returns and can only say negative things about their home country. On the contrary, I love this place and appreciate it even more after our time away. That's not to say "these United States" (this is what Aidan calls The United States, as if he was not born here! Rue Rice: Baby turns ONE!

http://ruerice.blogspot.com/2012/11/baby-turns-one.html

Life takes this family places we never knew we would go. Nolan's birthday week was no exception to this. He has been such a perfect addition to this family. This is my daily view. We had to sing him awake. For cake of course. Cake is Amazing. One party tip, even though everyone loves some good stinky cheese in France, the smell was a bit too much for me. I'ld go with Cheddar next time. He smiles with his whole face. Brandon says no more kids. Nolan and I are leaving that door open;). We miss you Carol!

Rue Rice: 38 years

http://ruerice.blogspot.com/2012/11/38-years.html

Last year at this time I had a tiny little baby that barely made a sound, slept and nursed like a charm. That baby is now a walking, talking, screaming little man, affectionately known as Henry the 8th. The days sometimes feel a bit upside down, but at the end of them, I'm so thankful for the crazy that is my life. At thirty eight I feel younger than I look. Most of the time. I look forward to staying in, more than going out. Saying no got so much easier with #3. Oddly, it's bittersweet. I lost a loved o...

Rue Rice: Birthdays, confessions, and therapy

http://ruerice.blogspot.com/2012/11/birthdays-confessions-and-therapy.html

Birthdays, confessions, and therapy. Aidan celebrated a birthday this past month. You know I love a good kid birthday party. I love making them feel special. I love that this year he helped make so much of the food. I overheard him tell Jaylee, "this one is going to be even BETTER than last year! I love Martha Stewart. This is her Boo-tiful cake. Topped with 7 minute frosting. I would change the chocolate cake itself to the Hershey cake recipe. There were games. Thank heavens my friend Ruth stayed to...

Rue Rice: Like I was never gone

http://ruerice.blogspot.com/2013/01/like-i-was-never-gone.html

Like I was never gone. There was much to do before we left Paris. Then to complicate matters Nolan decided to get pneumonia. We like a bit more chaos in chaotic moments. But the show had to go on. Literally, the kids Christmas show. Where we had to say good bye to the best school and friends. Ever. Then there was the matter of doing a few Paris "must" during Christmas. The first was for the kids, the second was for the adults. In five years I had not made the trip out to see it. Now I can say I have.

long live the queen...: funday sunday

http://queenthrone.blogspot.com/2013/11/funday-sunday.html

Long live the queen. Her majesty's role as a daughter, sister, wife AND mother. Sunday, November 17, 2013. Sweet cheeks is seven weeks today. We celebrated by returning to church after a six week absence. (The girls and I actually went the Sunday she was born because I wasn't POSITIVE my water had broke that morning. Found out the answer to that once we actually arrived at. Good to get some fuel for my soul (even if I am hidden away like Quasimodo in the nursing room.). Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

long live the queen...: First Family Trip: Day One

http://queenthrone.blogspot.com/2012/07/first-family-trip-day-one.html

Long live the queen. Her majesty's role as a daughter, sister, wife AND mother. Thursday, July 19, 2012. First Family Trip: Day One. Take too long to pack and load up the car. Question decision to take scenic route. Frown upon the car nap that only latest one hour for the kids. Make an extremely long pit stop to let oldest child use restroom and buy a few snacks for the road (including repurchasing those fabulous thermos sippy cups you left at home in the freezer.). Confirm crib for youngest child. Water...

Claiming our daze and our days on the prairie. I got two spam comments tonight. I followed one to his website and wish i didn’t. This seems timely after my last post about wanting to put a bubble around my kids. And i will remain in prayer for the lives i witnessed on his blog. Even if those comments were random, it is no longer worth it to me to be out in the open. So, i am in the process of making my blog password protected. Well, unless you make my stomach hurt). Plus, in case i wanted a little more n...

The Carroll Family: 04/01/2008 - 05/01/2008

http://carrollfamilyadventures.blogspot.com/2008_04_01_archive.html

Just a midwestern family who lived in France. Friday, April 18, 2008. Afterward, Natalie asked if she could someday be one of those girls in the sparkly dresses. I said absolutely yes! A girl after my own heart! Wednesday, April 02, 2008. This is how we found Natalie when we went in to check on her one day during a nap. She loves to read and she is totally asleep holding this book. Oma got a new coat that looked almost identical to Natalie's and they were modeling their "same coats". A CUP OF JO.
