Tuesday, June 11, 2013. 2012 Cotton Row 5K . No Taper, No Problem. I managed to finish 30th overall and 1st place in my age group. I wanted to run under 21 minutes but got a 21:10. I usually have a couple of bike rides a week weather permitting. Sunday morning before church is my long bike ride usually 20 to 33 miles. I ride a 17 mile ride on weekday mornings. I usually swim on days I cannot ride a bike or run. Friday is usually a good day to swim so I can rest my legs for the long run or race on Saturday. I lift 10 lb hand weights for 20 to 30 minutes 3 times a week. I also do pullups 3 days a week. I try to do crunches and stretches 4 to 5 days a week. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

Running has gone well the last month or so - had several injuries (mostly calf strains) and am still experiencing hip pain in my non-operated hip. Did the UAH hills this morning - about a mile warmup, then 8x300m uphill, jog back down, and then about a 0.75 mile cooldown. Interval times were pretty consistent:. Was just hoping to survive what turned out to be a ten mile trail run. Calves were a little sore, but wind seemed OK. Very encouraged by just being able to get out and do it again!
