Sahara Marathon

Thursday, March 31, 2011. Sunday, February 6, 2011. Snow, ice, squirrels and long runs. Around mile 8, I came upon a a dead squirrel lying on the road. At that moment, a car came barreling down the road directly headed towards the deceased animal. My immediate fear was that I was about to be covered with road kill; but fortunately, the body was still frozen and I was spared. I guess there are occasionally advantages of training in cold regions! Thursday, February 3, 2011. 2 months and counting. Last week...

Sahara Marathon: Winter training

http://runfarrar.blogspot.com/2011/01/winter-training.html

Friday, January 14, 2011. One of my New Year's resolutions is to run at least once a day for the entire year. This might pose a challenge when I am travelling for work or in the days following MDS, but we'll see how this goes. So far, I am 14/14! During the first week of January, I ran 50.5 miles, and this week I will have about 60 miles under my belt. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Desert shoes and winter training. Sahara Marathon: 2 months and counting

http://runfarrar.blogspot.com/2011/02/2-months-and-counting.html

Thursday, February 3, 2011. 2 months and counting. It's hard to believe that the race is only two months away! April 3. Day 1. Feeling excited and ready! Aside from a couple dying toenails, I am in good physical health. I did manage to pull a muscle in my right shoulder last week while removing snow from my roof, but it is starting to feel better now. My biggest objective is to remain injury-free and arrive in Morocco as healthy as possible. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). 2 months and counting.

Sahara Marathon: Desert shoes and winter training

http://runfarrar.blogspot.com/2011/01/desert-shoes-and-winter-training.html

Tuesday, January 25, 2011. Desert shoes and winter training. Last week, I obtained the trail shoes that I'll be wearing in the desert. These are New Balance 915s, a new model that is extremely lightweight and ventilated to regulate heat. I've done several runs in them and have been quite pleased. I now need to find a cobbler who can sew the gaiters' velcro strips onto the shoes. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Desert shoes and winter training. View my complete profile.

All I Really Need To Know About Leadership I Learned From Running. Business advice from a virtual running partner. To Be a Better Runner (or Leader) You’ve Got to Up Your Mental Game. When a person’s form is off, either on the race course or in the boardroom, the problem is usually that they’re doing too much of some things and too little of other things. Outrun the Cushite

Saturday, December 3, 2016. Monday, September 26, 2016. By the time the first leg of our half-ironman began, I was very glad to have previewed the course the day before, risk of sickness notwithstanding. The 10 foot swells threatened to turn back any aspiring swimmer lacking enough tenacity back to the shores of Imperial Beach. Where was everyone else? Tuesday, September 6, 2016. A few miles in, we wound up on the trailhead at the bottom of Ester Dome. I was out here on my mountain bike the day befor...

A slice of light. Humorous side of life as a suburban mom/wife/friend in the 21st century. No time to say hello goodbye I’m late I’m late I’m late I’m late…. Clearly this was me on my way to an appointment that started at two. Oh shit, I was supposed to be there at 12:15. On the hour happens at exactly the same moment that your cell phone clock blinks over to the hour? Isn’t it, you know, a little too. Big brother is watching. Oh yes, yes, I am totally on time for my noon appointment. 8221; Then he walke...
