Race and Running Gear Discounts. Chicago Part 2: Race Day. October 25, 2016. October 26, 2016. The Chicago Marathon was almost a month ago, but it seems like just yesterday. I want to start with the finish of this race. This picture sums up EVERYTHING I loved about this race: I ran for an amazing team, the city and course are beautiful and the volunteers and the ENTIRE Chicago community was amazing. Just amazing. I mean, are they more happy or am I in this picture? Another reason I love Chicago. Post rac...

Where are the pancakes? I thought they said rum. October 24, 2016. Race Report: Holy crap, where did that come from? To those of you who stop running because it became tiresome and grindy: I absolutely get it. 8220;Frustrating” is putting it kindly. So when someone expresses their own frustration with running, or dreads going out for a run, or drops it entirely for these reasons, I totally get it. Rolled around, I was just hoping not to thoroughly embarrass myself. The problem is, once you actually hit t...

Another year over, and what have you done? | Where are the pancakes?
https://wherearethepancakes.wordpress.com/2016/12/22/another-year-over-and-what-have-you-done
Where are the pancakes? I thought they said rum. December 22, 2016. Another year over, and what have you done? Not much, frankly. At least, that’s how it feels. I haven’t posted nearly as many updates here as I’d wanted to over the course of the year. Though I’d say that’s probably because I really didn’t have much of anything to post about until the last few months. 2014 (I have no idea how I did that; I had a freaking wedding, a dissertation defense, and a relocation that year). This year has been frus...

Slacking, Streaking, and Other Summery Notions. I’m linking up this week over at Mississippi Piddlin. To recap my week of slightly guilt-inducing, quite blissful slacking. 🙂 Click the photo to join in the fun! I woke up the morning after my ten-miler race. 20 mile bike ride; 58:30. This happened after my pathetic attempts to force Jeff to take a selfie with me in a parking lot. He likes me. I just know it. Anyway, we are joining a bowling league this summer! 210 miles; 21:16; 10:08 pace. I ran almost ex...

When a Training Run Becomes a Race. I’m linking up this week over at Mississippi Piddlin. As well as at Run Megan Run. To catch up on this past week. Obviously she won that debate and here I am with a slightly messed-up budget. It’s only money, right? Thankfully, she didn’t need stitches, but by the time I got home, I was exhausted. Thank goodness for rest days! Tuesday 3 Mile Progressive Run. 300 miles; 10:36/10:08/9:18. 501 miles; 46:45; 9:20 pace. Thursday 3 miles easy. I skipped this run. Teeheeh...

Running, Healthy Eating, Balance. Half Mary Training Plan. January 9, 2013. In my last post. I announced that my sister-in-law, Kenna, and I are training for a half marathon in order to get ourselves back into decent shape. I’ve never done the Barry Half. Before, so I’m excited to run a new (to me) course! The most I’ve done in months has been 3 miles at a time for Atlanta Running Tours. Even then, I would only run once or twice a week…if that. Plus, we text each other when we ran. Half Mary Training Plan.
