March 2015 – Running away with it
https://runningawaywithit.wordpress.com/2015/03
Running away with it. So you run too, do you? Maidstone Harriers parkrun takeover – a perfect spring morning. I had the extreme pleasure of being Run Director this week, supported by a great volunteer team from my running club, the Maidstone Harriers. I won’t repeat it all here, I’ve written a run report which is on the Maidstone parkrun website. I spent most of the morning co-ordinating the 30 strong team of volunteers, shouting, clapping, encouraging and finishing off with results processing. Https:/ m...
A beautiful morning at Tring parkrun – Running away with it
https://runningawaywithit.wordpress.com/2015/02/21/a-beautiful-morning-at-tring-parkrun
Running away with it. So you run too, do you? A beautiful morning at Tring parkrun. As I sit and write, my glutes are shouting at me and they don’t know what hit them. I do, it was Tring parkrun this morning. Put this on your parkruntourism must visit (probably more then just the once) list. A Grade II listed building) and a summer house. A massive thanks to the volunteers this morning, lucky you for having such a lovely (and re-vistable) parkrun on your doorstep. The Akeman, a few minutes walk down the ...

Running away with it. So you run too, do you? Horsing Around at the Kent Road Runner marathon 2016. What a great marathon! Had a fab time yesterday at the Kent Road Runner Marathon, surrounded by loads of friends from Maidstone Harriers and peeps from far flung corners of the parkrun tourist world. Bumped into fellow parkrunner and Royal Parks Foundation Team Squirreller, Victoria. The two winners, Hannah (ladies race winner and parkrunner) and the “Best Vest” winner 😂. Ran a bit with my friend Andrew, ...

Ramblings of a Menopausal Runner. Fighting Fit at 50 and a bit! How running keeps me going strong. Monthly Archives: July 2014. July 28, 2014. Since I wrote my blog post last week, I’ve come across a few things which have strengthened my belief that there is an Olympic Legacy. And you’ll be pleased to know that this post is much, much shorter! Lastly, and although this is not London 2012 related, it still shows that it’s never too late to try to improve your lifestyle. On Sunday Steve Way came 10. You ju...

Ramblings of a Menopausal Runner. Fighting Fit at 50 and a bit! How running keeps me going strong. Monthly Archives: June 2014. June 28, 2014. It may well be the food of love but is it the food of runners? Oooh, controversial Jones! For some time now I’ve been intending to blog about music and running and hey, here it is! Who knows, but it was so wet on that run my MP3 player eventually drowned about half way around so I had limited musical accompaniment! Then last September I took part in the BUPA Great...

Ramblings of a Menopausal Runner. Fighting Fit at 50 and a bit! How running keeps me going strong. June 29, 2015. As we approach the midyear point and I’m not going to say it. Oh alright, I will where did that go! I thought it would be a sensible idea to review the goals I’d set myself back in January. This would then potentially shame me into giving myself a metaphorical kick up the backside! So here goes, starting with the successes and going downhill after that! Well, for about a week! To perform 2 se...

Ramblings of a Menopausal Runner. Fighting Fit at 50 and a bit! How running keeps me going strong. July 22, 2015. After my epic fail at the Foots Cray Meadows 10k. Earlier in the month, I wasn’t too sure what would happen at Sunday’s Morrisons Great Newham London Run. And having reread it, I did have a bit of a bee in my bonnet when I wrote that! Historically I wouldn’t have dreamed of being so far from home the day before a run, let alone spending the morning jumping around in the waves and then laughin...

Ramblings of a Menopausal Runner. Fighting Fit at 50 and a bit! How running keeps me going strong. Monthly Archives: January 2015. January 18, 2015. In a week when Sport England launched the This Girl Can. Campaign aimed at inspiring women of all shapes, ages and abilities to get involved in sport I had a bit of a self esteem boosting experience I ran with the big boys! Running away to join the circus. Skip to primary content. Skip to secondary content. Stuff I look at on the interwebs. February 22, 2014. How do you pack up eight months of life into a 20kg suitcase? The short answer: you can’t. You stuff as many clothes as you can fit in that suitcase and hope against hope the check-in lady at the airport thinks adding the four kilo suitcase weight to the total weight is a silly concept too. And you stuff as many sunny memories, good intentions, happy daydreams, alterna...

Someone on a FB group asked what song would say represented your Triathlon journey and after a few minutes I realized it has not changed since the start, the Climb by Miley Cyrus has been and always will be my song. I wrote about this in a June 20, 2012 blog post The Climb. I can almost see it. That dream I am dreaming. But there's a voice inside my head saying.
